We have been talking to a lot of ppl about vaccines of late and realized that there is no real frame of reference to grab onto for many. #Thread 🧵

We have one moment in our history where vaccines were also a moon shot. Polio

At that time in America we took 1 year to find a vaccine that worked. 1 whole fucking year the US waited for science to work.

At the end of the vaccine trials, we had this data👇

And a vaccine that America trusted so much, they fucking lined up to get it!

Fast forward to today

The US has 5 primary vaccines we are working on. That’s all, fucking 5 not 25, just fucking 5.

Each one of these vaccines has ~30k participants in the trials. Not 300,000 just fucking 30k

And unlike the Polio trial that the US waited a year for, these trials will end when 200ppl in each one, who has received the vaccine gets #COVID19

That’s .05% of the study group.

From there, we will be using models to predict how the vaccine will work and try to decipher any weird shit it may do to you.

We are not saying that this is bad, just that it’s different and more then ever, we all need to be able to see the science. Otherwise, any vaccine will fail to do what we need.

So start telling your candidates and elected reps that you need to see the science!

Because the FDA can at any time, issue an EUA for any vaccine without showing you shit!
