1/ Thanks for having me to #EUInfluencer to talk about trends emerging from digital communication, corona and the latest EU policies!
Here are a few thoughts π
2/ While digital has changed political communication, it is important to remember the communication objectives remain the same:
π° Media attention
π’ Messaging
π€ Mobilisation
π reaching people
π Building networks and communities
3/ Digital has changed is the communications environment.
πΊ New channels, like blogs and social media influencers
π New conventions, like a 24 hr cycle of content production
π° Costs of participation down
π New measures and metrics
π οΈ New tools for connecting
4/ The coronavirus is accelerating the transformation:
We see some trends emerging - more empathetic communication, increasing relevance of digital methods, more green conversations, direct citizen engagement, etc.
5/ And alongside all this, a range of EU policy responses changing the dynamic. Here are a few to watch:
πͺπΊ Speech to @Europarl_EN by @EU_Commission President
πΊοΈ Charts a course for the year ahead
π― Lays out vision, priorities and plans
π¨ Addresses pressing challenges
πͺ Reflects on achievements of past year

1/ πͺπΊ Great discussion with @OpenEUDebate on how coronavirus has and will continue to transform EU communications.
A few takeawaysπ
2/ π‘Remote working, remote conferences and remote communication - as people get more comfortable with these formats, its only natural our focus moves more and more online (like @EU_Commission virtual press room!)
