Koondrook’s name is thought to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning moon.
Teal Point was added in 1952 when VR took over.

This is a 2-4-0, and is the same as the VR 'K' class #114 - 124 Phoenix Ballarat 1874.
This photograph was taken by my Grandfather in 1935.
Was labelled as ' Koondrook Tramway '. After some research this is believed to be Yeoburn station.

Locomotive is a 4wVBT (4-wheel vertical boiler tank) locomotive from the Sentinel Waggon Works, Shropshire (possibly b/n 5766) was imported in 1929 to work the line and shunt the Murray River wharf sidings. Withdrawn 1941 scrapped 1952.

T267 0-6-0 was sold to the Koondrook Tramway in 1921.
This loco was known as ' Bucking Kate ' on the tramway. Sold off for scrap 1952, last used 1950.

Ownership of the tramway was transferred from the Shire to the Victorian Railways on 1 Feb 1952.
Passenger services on the line were run by a 102hp Walker railmotor, paid by the Vic Education Dept, to convey school children.

RM 6 has dropped its passengers off at the platform and shunted to the dock road as B 66 arrives at the platform whilst running the Swan Hill to Melb service.

Yarrawonga to Oaklands NSW railway.
Railway open to Yarrawonga 1886. 1922 Border Railways Act line was extended another 61 km to Oaklands, completed 1932. Oaklands was then a break of gauge station with the standard gauge NSWGR.
Yarrawonga was on the south bank of the Murray River. A wooden bridge was built to cross the river. Construction of Yarrawonga weir began early in 1935 and was completed in 1939.

The wooden bridge was replaced by an earthen embankment in 1975, and the last remaining section of wooden railway bridge was replaced by concrete and steel in 1989.
Good Morning Deniliquin!
Railway reached Echuca in 1864. 1876 the Deniliquin and Moama Railway Company opened its 71 km (44 mile) private railway to Deniliquin. This connected with the VR network at Echuca by a temporary bridge, later replaced. vrhistory.com/VRMaps/Vic1930…
1 Dec 1923 under the terms of the 1922 Border Railways Act the private railway was taken over by NSW Govt for transfer to VR.
