Why do people think "passing federal legislation" to protect Roe will... PROTECT ABORTION from an unpacked 6-3 Republican court?

WHY DON'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND HOW LAW WORKS AND STUFF?
Supreme Court: There's no constitutional right to abortion
Red State: Abortion is illegal
Fed: Abortion is so totally legal
Supreme Court: Federal government has no right to force states to administer abortions.
Me: I GODDAMN TOLD YOU SO WHY WON'T @JoeBiden LISTEN TO ME?
And don't even get me started on the conditional clause. "I'll do something IF the Supreme Court does something."

THE SUPREME COURT IS DOING SOMETHING NOW. LOOK AT SOUTH CAROLINA. JESUS TAPDANCING CHRIST.

Party of Trump, who also think the Court should be used to codify white minority rule of a generation, disingenuously worries about the breaking of norms.
If the @NRO was this concerned about court packing, they probably shouldn't have supported blocking Merrick Garland's appointment. OR, in the alternative, they probably shouldn't have wet themselves with excitement with RBG died.
Basically, I had a minority position until Republicans started acting like Republicans. Thanks guys. Why don't you have another party where you give each other Covid while I keep working.

I just... #twitterlaw is full of all these ARGUMENTS for why some liberal priority or other SHOULD BE constitutional, without understanding that FedSoc wants to control the courts so they can MAKE all these things UNconstitutional.
I just don't think people appreciate how craven and intellectually dishonest these people are. There are not PRINCIPLES. It's just "Republicans Win Always." There judges are there to DO A JOB, that JOB is to roll back rights for women, minorities, and LGBTQ. THAT'S THE WHOLE GAME
If conservative jurists were guided by *principle* the GOP would be losing some of these Trump cases 9-0. If they respected *precedent* they wouldn't be trying to overturn Roe, AND OBERGEFELL.

Sigh. @alfranken just said that Dems should "sit with" a 6-3 court and *wait for* the court to do something bad AND THEN, maybe, the Dems would have the political will to expand the court.

Since this is my part of the store, I will quickly say that this is dumb and bad.
* Expanding the court upon victory is going to be the HEIGHT of the Dems political power to do this. The illegitimate process to install ACB will be fresh.

Also, it's the height of the reform argument. Trump broke the court just like he broke everything else. LET'S FIX IT.
* There is the sense, from Dems, that they have "other priorities." But, people (include Dems) don't seem to understand that the POINT of a 6-3 Republican court is to THWART those priorities. THAT'S WHY THE GOP STOLE IT.

There's NOTHING that Dems want that survives a 6-3 court.

I'm going to take a nap. Last time my thoughts were this disorganized I was getting my ass kicked in a bar fight I didn't want to be in.
OKAY, I'll tell the story:

My friends and I were at Charlies Kitchen in Harvard Square and one of them decided to steal the pickles off OTHER PEOPLE'S PLATES. We told him to stop, we told him eventually he'd steal the wrong pickle. He didn't listen.
So eventually he steals a pickle and like four guys rise up to, uhh, challenge him.

They start beating him, JUSTIFIEDLY, but my other friends says we're being BAD friends by just letting him get wailed on by 4 dudes.

So we go over, intending to be peacemakers.

I fucking refuse to be dragged into the mainstream media PROCESS STORY about whether the next debate should happen. AT THIS DEBATE, the President of the United States encouraged white supremacists to intimidate voters at the polls.

THAT'S THE STORY. #Debate2020
It's not on Biden to figure out how desperately the media-industrial complex wants another debate It's on the media to figure out whether they are going to LITERALLY ASK A FOLLOW UP QUESTION and figure out amongst themselves how to STOP Trump from LYING ALL THE TIME
Debates are a TV show. The media CONTROLS THE FUCKING MICS. If they don't like what they saw they can literally just CHOOSE TO DO BETTER. If they so choose and Trump gets huffy and walks off set, that's HIS choice.

The MEDIA'S choice is to do their JOBS, or do this crap.

Remember when I wanted the Dems to have whole sections during their primaries about the Supreme Court and nobody listened to me? #Debates2020
Trump surfaces pushing Amy Coney Barrett through in the lame duck.

Remember, that would involve people who have been VOTED OUT OF OFFICE voting to confirm a lifetime appointee.
Joe Biden pivots from the illegitimacy of the Barrett nomination to the battle over the Affordable Care Act (slated for argument November 10th). #Debates2020
