LOFGREN, chair of House Admin Committee, pours cold water on mandatory rapid testing in Capitol. She told colleagues on call there is 30-50 percent false negative rate on rapid tests that makes them absolutely worthless.
Lofgren says the more reliable testing takes longer to get results, which is incompatible with congressional schedules where lawmakers fly in and fly out a few days later.
Lofgren says leaders will keep looking at better mechanisms but in meantime, lawmakers and staff need to keep wearing masks, social distance and wash their hands
