Watching @reggcohn interview Premier @fordnation on @RyersonU Democracy Forum. Premier talks about his “good pal” @cafreeland, says they talk almost every day.
He says he had to make “tough choices” in first year, but he likes the type of governing he’s doing now. “I’m not going back.” Says he was elected not just by PCs by members of other parties too.
“Even during the campaign, she was never mean,” @fordnation says of @Kathleen_Wynne, praising her as a genuinely nice person.
Ford is asked what he’d do differently during pandemic, he says he’s “ticked off” at President Trump for cutting Canada off on PPE. (Not really a regret...)
“No one can influence” the PCs or Doug Ford, the Premier says, when asked why he’s not bringing back per vote subsidy. He says $1,600 per year max donation “is not much.”
Premier opens up about late brother Rob. “My brother had an addiction,” he says, adding it’s tough unless you go through it. He calls Trump’s attack on Biden’s son “disgusting,” says he didn’t agree with either candidate - like two little kids. “It was embarrassing for the U.S.”
Premier says people working in hospitality should only work in one place, pledges to go after “bad actors” in restaurant industry.
Ha! “Boy that was a real snap calling me Donald Trump,” Premier Ford, says in response to a Q from a student comparing him to the US President.
*slap.
