REPORT: PNP seeks removal of Kalinga monument honoring Igorot heroes who fought the dictatorship
The Kalinga Provincial Police Office asked the local government through the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Oversight to “enact a resolution to remove the monuments of Macliing Dulag, Pedro Dungoc and Lumbaya Gayudan", according to the Cordillera People's Alliance.
CPA said the monument was built in 2017 in honor of the heroes and martyrs of the struggle against the Marcos dictatorship's Chico Dam project.
Francis Macliing, one of the sons of Macliing Dulag, asked CPA to build such a monument in 2000.
"The planning, actual construction and inauguration of the monument in 2017 were jointly conducted by the CPA, representatives of the families of Ama Macliing, Dungoc and Lumbaya, and umili from Bugnay, with the support of known artists and architect." - CPA
The PNP request to remove the monument came soon after a visit in Kalinga by a General R’win Pagkalinawan, the notorious red-tagging regional director of the PNP in Cordillera.
(Pagkalinawan is also behind the cyberlibel charge against Northern Dispatch staffmembers.)
Here's a story on the 2017 unveiling of the Igorot heroes' monument:

SECOND OPINION: “If we are to implement a quarantine, it must be a MEDICAL QUARANTINE, with healthcare workers in the lead and with clear health goals and outcomes.”

THREAD: There were generations of Filipino immigrants who upon arrival in the U.S. tried to systematically wipe out their Filipino identity, and fully “assimilate”. Colonial mentality in the belly of the beast.
They banned Tagalog and other Filipino languages from being spoken in their households. They spared no effort to impart PH history and identity to their children. What they kept was their regional identities as “luckier”, “more hardworking” and “more successful” clan members.
Of course, the kids would ultimately notice they’re different from other races. They’re not white, not black, not Latino, not Chinese, not Vietnamese, not Indian. They find no answers at home.
THREAD: "In the early morning on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in General Trias City, Cavite wherein a certain Ronald Campo was held under the custody of General Trias Police Station for Violation of Liquor Ban, Curfew and no Quarantine Pass."
This was what happened...
First: "While policemen were busy processing the data of ECQ Violators, Campo tried to escape away from the police station. He accidentally slipped and bumped at the motorcycle parked near the station that caused his bruises and injuries on his arm and face."
Second: "He was brought back to the station ... but suddenly he ran away and fell on the pavement twice before he finally jumped over a creek with a knee deep muddy water without regarding the broken bottles and garbage but he still managed to disappear in darkness."

But first, get a lawyer. The lawyer knows how to defend you in legal proceedings, and what legal steps are available to you.
Citizens could file countercharges before the Ombudsman and the regular courts, according to Bayan Muna Rep. @kaloi_zarate.
Authorities involved in illegal or arbitrary arrest could be held liable through criminal, civil and administrative cases, says @OlaliaEdre of the National Union of Peoples Lawyers (@nupl).
