“... and now, when I introduce the candidates.” Here we go. #VPDebate
What’s with Mike’s eye?
Harris’s eyes, meanwhile, are going to do more work tonight than Trump’s done with his whole body in the past month.
My version of that question: “Mr. Vice President, looking at the Rose Garden event, why is your administration so incredibly and unforgivably irresponsible?”
“Many people were tested,” Pence says, a tacit acknowledgement that some people at the event weren’t tested.
What the hell is that?
Harris knocked that answer out of the park.
The American people have had to sacrifice too much already due to the incompetence of the Trump administration.
She’s right.
Pence is disgusting.
Imagine serving in Donald Trump’s administration, with Donald Trump’s lies, and with 210,000 deaths on their hands, and accusing *Kamala Harris* of playing politics with people’s lives.
TAXES! $750! $400 million!
Pence says they “spared no expense to help the American worker,” even though there has been no further pandemic relief.
Paging Susan Page. Paging Susan Page. When Pence interrupts during Harris’s “uninterrupted 2 minutes,” you should step in!
“He interrupted me, and I’d like to finish.”
I actually screamed, “Yes!”
Page: “Do you believe that climate change is an existential threat?”
Pence: “Uh.”
“what you referred to as an accomplishment ... you lost!”
Don’t mess with Harris.
“Joe Biden was responsible for saving the American auto industry, and you voted against it. Let’s get the record straight.”
Wait, did DOJ plan an indictment announcement for this morning in order to give Pence a line at tonight’s campaign debate?
“The slanders against Donald Trump!” - a man who has sold his soul to a man who slanders people right and left for fun
Mike Pence is asked what he would want Indiana to do if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
He won’t answer.
Harris should just say that Pence didn’t answer because he’s afraid to let Americans know what he wants.
MIKE PENCE DIDN’T ANSWER BECAUSE HE ALMOST CERTAINLY WOULD WANT INDIANA TO BAN ABORTION FOR ALL.
“I’m pro-life, and I don’t apologize for it.” And yet, he won’t answer directly as to what he would want to do, because that would be an answer very unpopular with the American public, which overwhelmingly supports choice.
Harris notes that of 50 appeals court judges appointed by Trump, none of them have been Black.
Pence had nothing of substance to say in response, because it’s fact.
Question asked about whether there has been justice for the murder of Breonna Taylor.
Harris talks about talking to Breonna’s mother, about this summer’s protests, and the changes she and Biden would support.
Pence talks about sympathy and the Trump “law and order” line.
The guy with the fly and the red in his eye.
Pence just took an extra minute.
Kamala Harris is doing an incredible job of moderating this debate.
Page, however, is letting Pence go over and then cutting off Harris.
Kick out the sneezer!

So, I know I’m not paying as close attention to everything as I normally do, but I have a few questions:
• Did anyone see Trump on Thursday?
• Did we figure out why Pence canceled Friday’s trip?
• Where’s Barr?
• Is Christie still in the hospital? What’s his status?
This from @peterbakernyt and @maggieNYT is an unbelievable, completely believable must-read. It also reads more like everything that I researched about Garfield and Cleveland and Wilson’s illnesses than any modern-era situation (except maybe Reagan). nytimes.com/2020/10/08/us/…
Seriously. The lengths to which the White House over time has gone to lie or at least withhold information about the president’s health is remarkable. There’s no reason to think Trump’s administration would be better, and lots of evidence they’d be worse. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisg…
Kim Davis has her case rejected by #SCOTUS. Thomas, joined by Alito, writes a statement concurring in cert denial but explicitly calling for the Court to revisit Obergefell, at least as to its interplay with religious liberty claims.
In another rejected appeal, Sotomayor writes in Raminder Kaur’s case our of Maryland, noting the special responsibility of prosecutors beyond convictions to “serve[] the ends of justice.”
Donald Trump keeps proving, time and time again, that he doesn’t care about Americans’ lives, broadly or those close to him or those who work for him. He is a national disgrace and a national danger.
There are more than 200,000 Americans dead, Trump’s Barrett events last Saturday created the largest case of community spread in all of DC, and now he’s forcing Secret Service to be in an enclosed vehicle with him so he can drive by his fans. Unforgivable.
“I learned a lot about Covid; I learned it by really going to school,” the president says about his weekend, more than 8 months after the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the US and after more than 200,000 Americans have died.
