The impressive station building complete 1881 (minus clocks in the tower). VR connection 1883, hence the last coach to Wodonga.

From 1883, the refreshment rooms had a license to sell liquor, but to rail passengers only. Closed in 1975.
During WW2 troops were not allowed to visit the RR when changing trains.

Good Morning Crowes!
Crowes was the terminal station of the Colac to Beech Forest, Beech Forest to Crowes VR narrow gauge (2' 6" gauge) railway. Opened in 1911. Crowes was the southernmost railway terminus in mainland Australia. vrhistory.com/VRMaps/Vic1930…
Wedderburn branch line.

Quick review of the Victorian Railways R class locomotives
First classification of R class was in 1886. Some of the class were built by Beyer Peacock, most Phoenix Ballarat. From 1889 known as Old R class.
VR Power Parade 1954.
NSWGR initially had a separate platform at Tocumwal. In 1941, the NSWGR moved from the previous separate platform to the opposite side of the VR platform. Tocumwal was transferred to NSWGR from VR in 1941/42.
From the north. The lines to the right are the broad gauge line from Victoria. Used for container transfer and picking up grain from silos. The area to the left housed the standard gauge yard.
