Curse of Caste System

Who, How and Why injected this venom in our society. Which is one of the biggest threat to our Nation.
🕉️Thread🇮🇳
It's going to be a long thread but believe me it will clear all the fog around it. Image
Present :
1st we have to understand what does caste system is, it is a system which defines someone's socio-economic status on the basis of his/her caste(jati) or in general based on surnames. So where are the roots of this system. Image
Whenever you ask there will be one answer it is based on Hindu Scriptures- Varna Vyavastha. To understand this let's look at the meaning of Varna, Jati and Caste.
Varna – Varna based classification has was a framework for grouping people into classes, first used in Vedic Indian society according to their qualities and capabilities. It was a Vertical/parallel division and was interchangeable. It wasn't birth based. Image
Jati (community)– Jatis are complex social groups that lack universally applicable definition in a general manner A group of families internally United by similar rules for the observance of ceremeonial purity and practicing same rituals system and lifestyle.
Caste (Prajati) - The term caste is not originally an Indian/English word, though it is now widely used, The word ‘caste’ has been derived from the Portuguese term ‘casta’,meaning race, bread, family or lineage. Image
So how did we moved from Varna to Caste, hv a look @ chronological order
It has origins in ancient India, and was transformed by various ruling elites in medieval, early-modern, and modern India, especially the Mughal Empire and the British Raj.
In Vedic era people didn't used any surname mostly father's name or name of village/city was used in introduction. After Vedic era during the rule of different dynasties use of vansh/dynasty name was a common practice, But Varna system was still in practice.
Then during long regime of Mughals society divided into two major categories An Elite rich class and Poor lower class & coz Mughals were basically belonged to the region where different tribes living as 1 religion the use of Jati Soochak word increased to insult Hindu community. Image
Then comes the British Era where the downfall started as it was a modus operandi of British Raj to divide and rule + make natives to believe that they are inferior/uncivilized. They 1st time created a division by giving Aryan Invasion Theory btween Elite & Poor Class by Maxmuller Image
Then after 1857 Revolt Britishers got to knew that this country looks divided but when it comes to save the nation they all comes together, so British Raj plans to create a division that will break this country apart in pieces. They introduced the caste system based on Surnames. ImageImage
Sir HH Risley was the man behind this idea of caste system. It finds its roots during the starting of 1st Population Census conducted by British government between 1865 -1872 in different parts of India.
First synchronous census was held in 1881. Image
The censuses was concerned with administration and to study the socio-economic structure of the population. The censuses were designed more for social engineering and to further the British agenda for governance rather than to uncover the underlying structure of the population.
The main strategy of this census was the inclusion of caste, religion & profession in the data to be collected, and Britishers created a surname system based on this data this had a considerable impact on the structure and political overtones of Indian society till 2day. Image
From the outset in 1872 there was never a formal definition of the census categories for caste, race or tribe.
There was a rule that caste of a person was immutable and unchanging & apply to Hindus, although Jains categorised from 1901 and in 1911 the Christians and Muslims too.
W. C. Plowden, the Commissioner in 1881, designated categories of Brahmans, Rajputs, Castes of Good Social Position, Inferior Castes and Non-Hindus or Aboriginal Castes; Varna system had no practical purpose from an administrative point of view.
In 1881, Punjab abandoned the primary categorisation by varna that was used in other British Indian jurisdictions in that year, preferring instead to assign more weight to the category of occupation. In 1891, the other jurisdictions followed suit.
Now according to the Caste System caste of a person was immutable, unchanging, it stuck to his/her name with the birth and one caste cannot be equal to another so creating a hierarchical system. So now what the whole division of society became based on Birth instead of Karma. Image
British Raj furthered this development, making rigid caste system base of administration. Between 1860 and 1920, the British segregated Indians by caste, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to Christians and using this for conversion.
and later people belonging to certain castes like in administration to Brahims and Kshatriya into army & police.
This ploicy of discrimination created a social unrest during the 1920s led to a change in this policy. Image
From then on British administration began a policy of divisive as well as positive discrimination by reserving a certain percentage of government jobs for the lower castes(Shudras).
in 1921, the category of "depressed classes" was used; hence giving name दलित समाज. ImageImage
in 1931 the nomenclature became "exterior classes" giving name बहिष्कृत समाज. Which continued in practice till the independence (ToP).

In 1948, negative discrimination on the basis of caste was banned by law and further enshrined in the Indian constitution Image
but positive discrimination (reservation) continued as it is (at the time mentioned to be used for some years) when the policy of caste-based reservation of jobs was formalised with lists of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
In 1980 based Mandal Commision's report OBCs identified on the basis of caste, economic and social indicators comprised 52% of India's population, the report recommended that members of OBC be granted reservations to 27% of jobs thus making the total number of reservations to 49% Image
So this how Britishers manipulated Varna System to create a caste/jati based division in the society to creat an unrest between them so they can't pose a threat to British Raj but Image
after independence our great leaders further promoted Britishers agenda for their political benefit which will someday lead to the civil war in this country according to Britishers Strategy.🙏🙏 Image
