When we take the security of individuals seriously, or desire of people to not engage with media, it's normal that people filming will be asked about it. There are very real security risks for us. They take priority over unthinkingly speaking politely to everyone with a camera.
Do I support journalists feeling threatened? No.
Would I like journalist to be aware of the dynamics in these situations? Yes
Would I like the framing of yesterday to not be dullard horseshoe 'anti fascism is as bad as fascism'? That's not in my gift.
1/ MINI THREAD: Its easy to look at the wing nut reactionaries who have gracefully rolled into a rabbit hole, and who delight in the micro-celebrity that comes with that. Such as being aghast at Una McGurk and her power over peoples lives.
2/ But a media-cycle reaction doesnt address the structural nature of problems of IPAT or - pulling back to the wider picture - the entire process around state protection.
3/ Or pulling back further, the political and institutional forces which over time have shaped Ireland's response to both international obligations and the less technocractic concept of solidarity with people(s) seeking protection.
Far right Twitter accounts using the vicious stabbing in #Carrigaline should be understood for what it is.
The NP, Croft and multitude faceless Twitter crew actually *want* a 'race war' based on the import of US far right ideas. It's part of their strategy. Don't fall for it.
THREAD
The first Tweet to use the #Carrigaline hashtag in relation to a vicious stabbing incident was this account
#AggregateIQ is suspended from Facebook for snooping and storing peoples data. It held almost one million records including home address, telephone numbers and email addresses. Its was the sister company of Cambridge Analytica
Now being paid by Gript Media to snoop on you.
To clarify, perhaps 'snooping'isn't isnt the best phrase here.
Lets take a look at what #AggregateIQ have done in the past, which might make suggestions about what happening here:

In 2016, #AggregateIQ were paid by the Democratic Unionist Party UP up north for targetted Brexit related adverts. The DUP paid for didnt target DUP voters.
They ran ads in a different country than where the DUP actually run themselves.

So @john_mcguirk and @rowanwcroft are working hand in first trying to stir up racial tensions in Carrickmacross. Might come as no surprise the Catholic homophobic ex-British soldier will find common cause with Catholic fundementalists at Gript.
Some observations 1/
So who shares Mc Guirk and Gripts stuff?
It's certainly instructive to look at who us sharing in on Twitter just as it comes out.
And surprise it conspiracy accounts and far right accounts.
Tagged are the fascists with Justin Barrett, Croft etc.
Ok I'll try to not get derailed but for the record, McGuirk first accuses me of saying "facts are racist"
Ive set out what this thread is about in my reply. It's about suggesting intention by looking at who's sharing and RT etc. Il get back to that soon but first 3/
