Whether CDPR is crunching its staff is a good fight to have. It's a refreshing change from whether someone is an "SJW" or "Nazi" over a clearly labeled opinion piece. (By "crunch" I mean overworking them to the point of mental or physical illness)
I saw a distinct difference in feedback compared to when people get triggered by identitarian ideology. People who got mad at me provided facts to support their positions, instead of just name calling or resorting to conspiracy theories.
Not all fights are the same. This is not about a theme in a game. This is about workplace conditions. I think we can agree that companies still need to do better AND reward a company like CDPR who, for a change, actually seems to give a shit here.
After dealing with CDPR's grotesque outward arrogance circa the Witcher 2 era, I do think that the company is growing up and improving. And I think we can reward that while still making it clear we'll buy less sprawling games if it means the staff aren't worked to death.

Here's the problem with politics right now... political systems are set up with the understanding that politicians will listen to the people, and not do things that are unethical or unpopular because they'll be voted out of office. Of course, that's not happening. (more)
There's consensus on certain issues that politicians ignore, and I don't think it's about money. I think it's also because they think voters are stupid and don't actually know what's good for them. It's about power corrupting, knowing that pols can work the ref through the media
Politicians know that there are multiple truths in America right now: Fox News - which is a populist fever dream totally divorced from economic conservativism, MSNBC - a mishmash of financial experts, old school newsies, and AOC fan club, and CNN - A cacophony of clickbait

Was actually feeling motivated for the first time in a year midday yesterday. Then I read post debate coverage on "undecided voters'" terribly unbalanced and unfair reactions to Pence and Harris.
The idea that Kamala Harris, who is running for VICE PRESIDENT, should behave in the fake public docility of "respectable" white women is a huge problem because LEADERS ARE NOT DOCILE. It's easier for Pence to speak in calm tones because he benefits from every assumption.
Kamala Harris is a black woman of Caribbean descent. WHY IS IT BAD THAT SHE HAS MANNERISMS CONSISTENT WITH A BLACK WOMAN OF CARIBBEAN DESCENT? I loved those moments. I thought they were authentic and relatable. Her face reflected what a lot of people thought in those moments.

Okay, since people are still fighting about it, let's talk abt the issue that Last of Us 2 DOES NOT SOLVE: depictions of unattainable bodies. There is not a SINGLE overweight person in the game and, among the WLF, food is shown as rationed. Abby COULD NOT do a body building diet.
Abby also spends weeks on the road on revenge quests. No gym crossing America on horseback. And... sorry kids, that kind of muscle bulk involves drugs. I do not know a single clean body builder who gets THAT big. Drugs are SCARCE.
The issue is NOT whether a particular body type is attractive or not. The issue is whether it's actually achievable without serious health consequences. The way Abby looks is absolutely not a healthy state. It wrecks your health so badly your reproductive cycle is compromised.

I guess I'll say this about the gaming metoo stuff:

When you have any field that has incredibly unbalanced representation in hiring, and one group is incredibly dominant, you will get abuses of power. And wanting games to be more like movies brought the rot of the film industry.
There is a tendency to look at any woman who enters a room in a gaming space like food. And JUST enough of those women did go ahead and sleep with those guys, so those guys started ostracizing women who didn't put out. (I didn't, so I had no defenders)
You feel it in certain encounters. The guy gradually realizing that nope, not gonna happen, and him gradually losing interest in everything about the conversation. It's kind of pathetic the way these guys try to swagger around a room, openly looking to hook up.

Anyone else feel like this is inadequate? This is not the first time Feminist Frequency has carried water for a man who mistreats women. (Joss Whedon anyone?) Furthermore, the org takes money from groups that would otherwise be accused of misogyny.

medium.com/@anitasarkeesi…
What we've seen of the upcoming Last of Us 2 violates many of FF's principles against violent content and men using women as props. Furthermore there are still unanswered questions about Amy Hennig's departure from the company.
The issue is not whether these men at guilty or innocent. The issue is that other companies have been piiloried for far less, and a chill has been cast over the entire industry by an org that now appears guilty of rank hypocrisy.

Why are people still fighting about the RE3 remake? Jill's original costume was dumb because it was a product of the time. I don't have issues with modernizing the look. I have issues with how boring they made it. There's nothing distinct or immediately recognizable.
To defend gamers unhappy with the reality boring change, Jill Valentine has never been a fap material character. She's waifu territory. So the assumptions some critics are making about the relationship between the character and her fans is just wrong.
You're talking about a character from a time where most clothes fit like skin because graphics capabilities couldn't do layers well. Her clothes were trendy and modern at the time. Nineties fashion was dumb.
