A week ago, I spoke to the IGP and there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

We thank the FG for listening to the voice of the people via peaceful but powerful protests showing the people's commitment to protecting each other irrespective of gender or tribe.
It is an undeniable fact that The Police Force needs strong and enduring reforms. A good example of a reformed unit is the Lagos RRS.

With constant funding from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and the LASG, the RRS is the definition of a friendly police.
They are not nicknamed The Good Guys for nothing. They help to make our lives easier in many ways. This shows it is possible to reform the police. A more intelligent and empathetic force is needed.
I thank the CP Hakeem Odumosu for ensuring that the Police in Lagos conducted itself properly during the protests. There is so much more to be done but we press forward in the bid to make our state safer.

Lagos, I'm here. Let's do this. Whatever it takes to make you feel safer.

I was at the venue of one of the #EndSARS protests today. The safety of everyone involved in peaceful protests across Lagos is important and communicating with the CP, this is what we want to guarantee on all sides.

Tomorrow, I will be meeting with HE Pres. @MBuhari in Abuja. ImageImageImageImage
As a servant of the people, my job is to listen and do everything within my power to act while managing the nature of the problems our people are protesting against. I am proud of our youth and the courage they are displaying in articulating their grievances.
I identify wholeheartedly with the #EndSARS campaign as it touches the essence of democratic freedom.

Citizens must never be denied the right to protest and your voices have been heard.

Today, in my virtual goodwill address at #KadInvest 5.0, I commended the Kaduna State Government for using the annual forum as a serious platform for showcasing the investment potentials of the state. ImageImage
Inspite of the pandemic, the event defied odds and rolled out a rich programme of discussions and engagements that benefited participants. I was particularly thrilled by the 3 elements of the summit's theme; Infrastructure, Industrialisation and Innovation.
These 3 elements are critical to delivering economic growth to the people.

It is worthy of note that the prosperity of the future will rest largely on innovation and Kaduna just like Lagos is on the right track by prioritising innovative thinking as a key driver of development.

In my opening address today at a 2-day Ministerial Performance Review Retreat, I noted that Lagosians will not accept #COVID19 as an excuse for non-performance.

Regardless of the challenges we face, we are still committed as a government to fulfilling the promises we made. ImageImageImageImage
I therefore charged cabinet members and other senior officials to heighten the tempo of governance and continue to create opportunities through innovative policies that are not only inclusive but also provide sustainable solutions. ImageImage
I reiterated that the yardstick for performance assessment will not be based majorly on the amount of money expended but on the outcome of our various interventions and impact on the lives of the citizens that we swore to serve.

I spoke about the importance of an airport as a gateway that first defines a nation to visitors during a visit by the Management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria led by its Managing Director, Capt. Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu today. ImageImageImageImage
I made a strong case for the remodelling of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport. We should fully harness the asset and make it a must-see destination for tourists and businessmen coming into the country. ImageImage
As a State Government, we are taking complementary efforts to ensure the airport promotes business and is safe for travellers.

We have started the construction of a massive bus terminal along the airport road, which will be complemented with a rail project. ImageImage

Following the progress we have made in the management of #COVID19 and in line with our desire to gradually open the economy and critical sectors, today I announced that tertiary institutions will re-open from September 14th 2020.
In the same vein, social clubs and recreational centres with trustees are allowed to open as long as they meet all the protocols for reopening while restaurants are now permitted to have in-dining in line with all safety rules and guidelines.
We remain sympathetic to the plight of business owners, especially those operating in the hospitality and tourism sector. We are reviewing permissible opening dates and we assure you that concrete decisions will be taken before the end of September.
