Dating apps are the step before attempts to tokenize love. It's a common complaint that dating apps "commoditize love."
That's right; dating apps make a special connection something that people aim to produce efficiently, like a commodity.
In so doing, love loses its essence.
Everything we do is for our social relationships, which feed back into the relationship with ourselves.
Often people get confused, that the money, or the token, gets you to the end destination.
And that end, whether you acknowledge it or not, is love...belonging.
"The outstanding discovery of recent historical and anthropological research is that man's economy, as a rule, is submerged in his social relationships." -Polanyi
"He does not act so as to safeguard his individual interest in the possession of material goods; he acts so as to safeguard his social standing, his social claims, his social assets." -Polanyi
What is (wo)man but a quintessence of dust? As great as blockchains are, the essence will always elude tokenization.
Relatedly, a warning for networks trying to buy loyalty...
...love ❤️ can't be bought.

...I have to say the next 12+ months are going to be tense.

Middleware protocols provide a specific service to the interface layer, be they financial, social, or technological.
In 2019 @placeholdervc posited they would achieve cross-chain, winner-takes-most dominance in their respective services - we're seeing things move that direction
Meanwhile, many #EthereumKillers have gone through their "fire period" and are entering their "growth period."
While many will claim to not be focused on dethroning #Ethereum, make no mistake, the knives are out.
"Whether housemates or friends sharing a Discord group, squads allow social currency and financial capital to inter-convert, creating opportunities and group resiliency that would have been impossible to achieve alone."
