Interesting story. To further add to this, out of ~4k Indian SARS-CoV-2 genomes currently in the public domain (GISAID/SRA), more than half were submitted by @CSIR_IND labs, of samples from across India.
Our recent work in collab with @IGIBSocial shows that with time, SARS-CoV-2 genomes have near uniformity across India, and are similar to those present globally, and hence can expect equal efficacy of vaccines/drugs.

First and foremost, there is no conclusive evidence at present that any clade of SARS-CoV-2 is associated with increased mortality or severity of the disease. 2/n
