modern wangxian au in which they are put into an escape room, by none other than nhs and jc. and their session is paid by wen qing because she said, “just fucking get those two together.” so what better way than to have the two of them being stuck in an escape room game.

there are several escape room themes and wwx chooses one that's called "grandmaster of demonic cultivation" because

wwx: it's so right up my alley, lan zhan. dEMoNIc

so this GDC theme will have several rooms, one connecting to the other, and will have sub-themes: gusu library,

burial mounds, nightless city. wwx and lwj have to work hand in hand to figure out just how they can progress, and ultimately complete the challenge. it requires teamwork and most importantly, mutual understanding and communication.

will they overcome this challenge? and the challenges they have in their hearts?

yes. for wwx and lwj are stronger together. it seems that the two are the only ones to have completed GDC escape room without any help from the staff. and this means that they're #1 on the wall of

fame!!!! (because yes wangxian powerful together no questions asked)

as a tradition, the winners are required to take a polaroid photo and they'll be writing their own messages on it! this photo will be stuck on the wall of fame, and extra ones would be printed for them to

bring home for keepsake.

photo taking also includes many props where they can use to pose with. and wwx is totally stoked, because 1) they just won the escape room, together!!! 2) lwj may have asked him to go on a *real* date before they exited the final stage of GDC theme

3) they.. sort of kissed? hehe

so yes there they are at the photo taking corner! the staff counts down, 3, 2, 1, smile! but neither wwx nor lwj is looking at the camera because they are looking at each other.

wwx wears a smile so big it stretches from ear to ear, and lwj looks at him so softly, as if he is going to melt (he probably did). even after the staff tells them that the polaroid has been taken, they ARE still looking at each other??? it's okay, they are in lov your honour.

"lan zhan, what message are you going to write on the polaroid?" wwx asks as he hands lwj a black marker pen.

lwj doesn't reply and just takes the pen in his hand.

“lan wangji was here," he writes.

he then slides the marker back to wwx, "what about you, wei ying?"

“wei wuxian was also here”.

they exchange a smile that only their hearts can understand.

together, they pasted their polaroid on the wall of fame.

"we look good together, don't we, lan zhan?"

"we do."

there it is, their polaroid together.

wwx looking at lwj, and lwj looking back at wwx. their props of choice? lwj is holding a chicken plushie, seemingly wanting to hand it to wwx. and wwx's prop? a fluffy, white rabbit plushie that he's hugging so tightly.

lwj wishes it was him that wwx's hugging. but for now, he's grateful. what's happened today between them, and for them, has been nothing short of amazing. tomorrow is another day, another new day.
