Tengo Project's director Toshiyasu Miyabe shared a few comments on Kikikaikai: Kuro Mantle no Nazo famitsu.com/news/202010/20…🇯🇵
why'd they choose Kikikaikai as their 3rd game? they received many requests for a Kikikaikai remake &/or sequel but as Tengo Project's members weren't the leads on the OG game, they fretted about it; ultimately, they're not getting any younger, so they decided it was now or never
Tengo Project's specialties are 16-bit flavour, pixel art, hardcore action and gamey-ass game sounds, so they're making the new Kikikaikai for people who are nostalgic for that older style of games that have you unconsciously pressing buttons and striving to improve
on the announcement: they knew Kikikaikai & lead Saya-chan (Pocky) were popular & seeing Kikikaikai trend on twitter after the announcement reconfirmed their suspicions; again, they weren't the original leads so they were trepidatious & were pleasantly reassured by the response
on development progress: he wants to say it's going well but they're more ambitious with this game vs. Wild Guns Reloaded & Ninja Warriors Once Again which impacts the schedule, so don't quote him on that

they might have a release date announcement ready for the next news drop
oh and they haven't nailed down the precise platforms either, but Miyabe says they don't want to disappoint those who bought Wild Guns Reloaded or Ninja Warriors Once Again

(in other words, expect some combo of Switch, PS4 and/or PC)
in his closing remarks, Miyabe reiterates what has been said a few times so far but some ppl still seem confused about: yes, what they've shown so far makes it look like a remake but it's a new game with lots of new stuff they've yet to show
(oh and it's not mentioned here but icymi, Natsume USA already confirmed they're bringing this over with the temp title "Pocky & Rocky 2021")

Etsunobu Ebisu discusses Good Feel's 15th anniversary, their first self-published title Monkey Barrels, their new Osaka office & a hint at their next independent game in production for Switch famitsu.com/news/202010/22…🇯🇵
Good Feel's next game is a comedy-heavy Japan-themed action game; Ebisu wants the new Osaka office to make a game with a distinctly Osakan flavour & humour honed for the JP market, & while they don't know if the humour will resonate overseas, they are planning a worldwide release ImageImage
(for those who aren't aware, Good Feel was largely formed from Konami's former Goemon/Mystical Ninja team and Ebisu has spoken previously about wanting to return to making games in that specific vein, so you can infer what they're going for with this new project)

Baroque -Original Version- is done, it'll be out on the JP Switch eShop on November 12, ¥2400 store-jp.nintendo.com/list/software/…🇯🇵 it's a direct port of the Saturn version with a few extras like the Baroque Report promo disc & print scans & FMVs from the PS/Wii games
as luck would have it, @_Kimimi just covered the original Baroque, check it
it should also be noted that Sting very recently ported the PS visual novel Baroque Syndrome to smartphones, and of all the peripheral Baroque media out there, that's probably the only one people seem to generally care about, so I'm sure they'll port that if OG Baroque does well

Sega Mark III is 35 years old! the mkIII was initially positioned more as a successor to the SG1000/SC3000 & as such, one of the selling points on the box is compatibility with older computer-esque peripherals like the keyboard, tape recorder & tablet that were ultimately ignored
the Master System, the redesigned & consciously game-focused intl version of the Mark III, came out the year after in various countries, and was eventually back-imported to Japan with a few extra perks like the Mark III's FM Adapter built in as standard sega.jp/fb/segahard/ma…
incidentally, Yuji Naka recently revealed that both the mkIII port of Space Harrier and the FM Sound Unit, which he built for his own sake during the production of the mkIII port of Outrun, were projects he started without authorisation that were then commercialised

the enormity of the problem didn't really register with me while it would've mattered but wow the search function on the Vita/PS3 stores are complete trash, huh
like, it's shocking how many big games on PSN are completely invisible unless you buy through the web store…what % of people even buy that way, I wonder

icymi, they're closing the PS3/PSP/Vita web stores next week, so I'm sweeping games that can only be bought that way
oh and you have to turn off 2FA in order to transfer games from PS3 to PSP because Sony couldn't figure out how to make it work without breaking, peachy

Taito's Yuichi Toyama & Katsuhisa Ishikawa, M2's Naoki Horii, Yukiko Karashima, Shinpei Yamada, Tatsuhiko Kasuga & Takayuki Komabayashi, Sega's Yosuke Okunari & homebrew dev Hideki Konishi discuss the production of Darius EXTRA MD famitsu.com/news/202010/13…🇯🇵
picking up from the release of the MD Mini: Taito signed off on Darius MD with the proviso that they had the rights to do as they pleased with it afterwards; the original dev period was short & left M2 with plenty of things they'd like to touch up, & Toyama also wanted to do...
...something else with Darius MD but the 2D Darius Cozmic Collection was already done and it wasn't a good match for the upcoming 3D-focused Darius Cozmic Revelation, so they're releasing it as a separate promo item (an Amazon Prime Day-exclusive with a 48-hour window, icymi)
