If a kingdom crashes from the peak of it's power to non-existence, do we ever think of their heroes? There are very few kingdoms whose heroes are known but nothing is known after the collapse of the kingdom. Take Kakatiyas for example.
Prataparudra's career was victory after victory with a few reversals. What happened to all those great commanders? He defeated the Yadavas, Pandyas, Hoysalas, Kampili and even the Delhi Sultanate. But then the kingdom fell crashing down, what happened to those people?
Let me name some of them.
Induluri Annayadeva, Kolani Gannaya(Tripurantakam), Adidamu Mallu(Nellore), Gona Vitthala(Raichur) - Tripurantakam Campaign 1289-1294
Mahadeva II, Ruler of Nidadavolu Chalukyas and Prataparudra's Father. Last record 1306.
Devakumara - Prataparudra's brother. Last record 1297. Is he Annama Deva of Bastar?
Somayadula Rudradeva - Supreme Commander of Forces. Last record 1297
Manuma Gandagopala - Field Commander, Pandyan Wars. Last record 1297
Gundaya Nayaka - Gajasahani. Last record 1299
Somaya Nayaka - Governor of Tripurantakam. Last record 1309
Ranaka Gopadeva - Led a raid on Malik Kafur's camp, 1310. Clearly, a commander of crack troops.
Jutteya Lenka Gonkaya Reddi - Commander of Pandyan Wars. Pushed Hoysalas out of Chandragiri belt. Last record 1311.
Machaya Nayaka - Gajasahini. Last record 1311.
Pothuganti Maili - Destroyed the Khilji army in 1303. Last record 1311.
Telungu Bijjana - Kakatiya Commander. Last record 1311.
Erraya Lenka - Gate Keeper of the Royal Quarters. Last record 1314.
Kotikanti Raghava, Prolaya Annaya - Kampili Wars, circa 1315.
Somaya Lenka - Commander. Last record 1318
Muppidi Nayaka - Commander of Pandyan Expedition. Last record 1319.
Devari Nayaka, Gopalavardhana/Bolneningaru, Induluri Rudra,Recherla Erra Dacha, Recherla Nalla Dacha - Pandyan Expedition 1319.
Jutteya Lenka - Governor of Southern Districts. Last record 1319.
How many more greats? It's gut wrenching to think that a majority of them are killed in the 1323 invasion. How many survived, how many were captured and how many were part of the later rebellion like Kolani Rudra and Musunuri Prolaya Nayaka or Prolaya Vema Reddi?
Kakatiyas are special in this regard because none of the contemporary Hindu kingdoms were as powerful and none of them ended suddenly. Will we be in a position to learn about any of them? And the sad part, for many big names, there are no references whatsoever after 1323.
But, one thing is certain. Many weren't able to reach Warangal on time. Else, you wouldn't be seeing Kakatiya armies streaming towards Warangal and the devastating perfection with which Muslims were ejected with just a confederacy of equals in a decade further hints at that.
Some names are known from after the collapse -
Kolanu Rudradeva
Prolaya Vema Reddi
Bendapudi Anna-Mantri
Musunuri Prolaya Nayaka
Recherla Singama Nayaka, son of Erra Dacha
Manchikonda Kunaya Nayaka
A Venga-Bhupati
Koppula Prolaya Nayaka
Manchikonda Ganapati Nayaka
Toyyeti Anavota Nayaka
Gurajala Muppabhupa
Kamma Nayaka, son of Nagaya Ganna or Malik Maqbul
How many of these are pre-conquest and how many of them are post, no clue.
Few more names.
Cheraku Jagadalu Maraya Ganapaya Reddi
Katama Reddi
Vepeti Kommaya
Mummidi Mallaya
Maraya Sahini
Gonkaya Reddi
Komma Nayudu
Muppidi Nayaka was succeeded by Muslims in Nellore. Was he killed in Nellore, was he killed in Warangal, did he retreat to fight from inaccessible places, will we ever know? But, think about it.
A supreme commander who thrashed both Hoysalas and Pandyans in a single campaign, we know nothing of him. The achievements of the campaign were not mean - advancing from Nellore to Tiruchhirapalli, wresting Kanchi, killing Ravivarma Kulashekhara - they are not mean tasks.
This is what a Chatuvu over Nellore says. It lists out the rulers of Nellore till Harihara I of Vijayanagara. Muppidi Nayaka is followed by the Muslims and then by some Tikkana(who is he?) and Vijayanagara.

This is what Amir Khusro said over Malik Kafur's Warangal expedition. One shouldn't have any problem with this paragraph. But, there is a problem. Where is this Anamkanda Hill?
This is not what is equated to the hill from which Hanumakonda got it's name(Padmakshi Gutta) simply because the hill contains a 2000 year old temple and there are at least three main Kakatiya Temples in that area -
Padmakshi Temple on the hill itself, Siddheswara Temple and Bhadrakali Temple. Now, with their penchant for destruction of Hindu temples, one would be surprised that none of three temples are desecrated. Why?

India vs the World. While we diss everything Indian, the world laps up everything Indian, however improbable it is.
Another one. Iran says Ayurveda is 5000 years old, India says Ayurveda is a quackery.
And this one. I came across this story of Gestapo picking an Indian Vedic scholar Viswanatha Sastry from Rajahmundry area to use his knowledge of Indian scriptures to make weapons many times, whatever the truth in it.

Was going through Burton Stein's Vijayanagara from Cambridge History of India. My rating? 3/10. Any opinions on his writeup?
I saw two major flaws in his writing.
1. His derision of anything Indian, this despite the fact that Krishna Raya's Vijayanagara is
the second largest city in the contemporary world and Vijayanagara "gifted" the mighty Portuguese Goa.
2. The kings of Vijayanagara didn't have any control on the kingdom except for the immediate vicinity of capital city. They survived on token vassalage and share in collections.
A few snippets.
Ekachatradhipatya mocked by saying a part of Karnataka is not the whole world. Care to check the title of the King of Portugal in 1500 or may be, the Treaty of Tordesillas? Image

Uff...this Anumakonda Kaifiyat is throwing many surprises. Just look at the number of temples in Warangal.
Mahadeva had leprosy
and his elder brother Rudradeva was destined to kill his father.

To search for something, I opened Nilakantha Sastri's Further Sources of Vijayanagara History and I came across a few good poems. Let me post a few over Krishna Raya.
Siege of Bidar - a Chatuvu by Allasani Peddanna
Another one on the siege of Bidar. This is a good one.

Just look at the comments. Same like India. Hatred for Trump is drowning the whole discussion - can Facebook or Twitter censor American Government? People have already thrown that question away.
And if this is really that email, both Twitter and Facebook made a mess of themselves. Just look at the English. Chaireman and such spellings. Obviously fake.
So, allowing leaked(not exactly leaked, but stolen and photoshopped) Rafale documents is fine?
