The Pakistani Army prepared a plan called "Operation Gulmarg" & put it into action as early as 20 August 1947.

20 lashkars (tribal militia) each consisting of 1000 Pashtun tribesmen were to be recruited & were to be armed by first week of September

Lashkars were expected to reach launching point Abbottabad on October 18 & cross into J&K on 22nd

👉10 of 20 lashkars were expected to attack Kashmir Valley through Muzaffarabad

👉Other 10 to join rebels in Poonch, Bhimber etc with view to advance to Jammu

Pakistani sources deny existence of any such plan "Operation Gulmarg"

Shuja Nawaz does list 22 Pashtun tribes involved in Kashmir invasion of October 22

Numerous authentic sources also cite that "tribes were well supported by Pakistani army & government"

Amidst the invasion,
Large-scale atrocities were committed!

💣Men, women and children were killed in thousands.
by the invading forces.
💣Civilians were looted.
💣Innumerable women were raped.
💣Even hospitals were not spared from attacking.

Eventually, Maharaja Hari Singh reached out to government of India in Delhi. He signed "Instrument of Accession". Indian troops started landing in J&K on October 27

November 8 saw Indian forces securing Srinagar- seat of princely state & emerged victorious.
