First up: the Job Market!
@NehaVapiwala: central regulation from @ASTRO_org and others raises antitrust concerns
@PottersMD: hiring calendar has been pushed back over time, increasing anxiety
The Match:
@emmacfields: collaboration between @RadOncPDs and @AROPC_org to optimize virtual interviews, resident input is 🔑. Additional silver lining is lack of costs
@NehaVapiwala: increases opportunities for longitudinal contact
Board Exams/Education:
@emmacfields: leveraging centralized virtual resources @roecsg @RadOncVVPN #ROVERRO
@NehaVapiwala: access to radiation biologists, physicists to oversee education is essential - acknowledge core value
@daniel_petereit : special considerations for #brachytherapy - important to establish independency through initiatives like #300in10
#ASTRO20
Future Workforce
@NehaVapiwala: focus on site-based minima and raised minima for SBRT/SRS/brachytherapy
@PottersMD: reconsideration of minima should be expanded to brachytherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, benign diseases. But, being a compassionate clinician is paramount
#ASTRO20
Workforce Disparities
@PottersMD: active mentorship and engagement is 🔑
@NehaVapiwala: change perceptions of our field through actions and examining implicit biases. Get involved early - ultimate goal is always to recruit for compassionate and caring physicians

@emmacfields: highlighting emerging programs like #HROP #RISE to increase engagement
@NehaVapiwala: shout out to the @ARRO_org EISC!
#ASTRO20
Geographic Distribution
@daniel_petereit: originally from the area + unique opportunities, such as work with Native Americans. Challenge to recruit to rural locations based on who you recruit
#ASTRO20
@AmericanBrachy #300in10 #ThisIsBrachytherapy
@daniel_petereit: 2 month electives at 22 institutions for PGY4/PGY5's - application deadline 12/1/2020!
