1. I shared these thoughts in 2018, and captioned it "LEARNING FROM AN ENEMY". The lessons are vital to our struggle for a #NewNigeria.
Please read slowly.
2. In Libya, some rebel forces formed a coalition to end the dictatorship of Gaddafi, and in 2011, they succeeded in taking him out. It's 7 years now (as at 2018), and the fight hasn't ended. In fact, stats show that the country is worse off...
3. In 2017, some voices rose against the 'excesses' of some church leaders, condemning them for using scriptures to take from people. A few weeks after, same folks were collecting phones and laptops from their followers...
4. Some political aspirants promised to fight corruption, and made it their mantra. But to get power, they had to surround themselves with the same people they wanted to fight.
5. Hence, the fight becomes selective, and not objective. And in the end, they become the same thing they were out to fight...
6. The unconscious self (the ego) prides itself on the fault of others. It tends to validate itself by feeding on the weaknesses of others. To achieve this, it has to assume and identify with a role. It labels others as something and itself as the opposite, or the solution.
7. This way, it can court attention and gain a sense of importance. The stronger the traction gained, the deeper the feeling of importance and superiority. We are the 'friends' of the people, they are the 'enemy'.
8. What the ego doesn't know is that what it strongly abhors in another is a reflection of itself. The only thing is that it (the ego) is not aware of it. Once it gains the platform it seeks, then its true colors, the stuff of which it is made, becomes manifest...
9. Light doesn't make its impact by fighting darkness. No. Light just shines. Trying to fight darkness will make light the same thing it's trying to fight - darkness. Think about it: freedom fighters never give any true freedom. They become worse than the system they are fighting
10. If you've got light in you, don't bother about the darkness, just shine the light. You don't need the sky, a lamp stand is a good place to start, even if it is from a corner.
11. Question: But DAB, what about people whose aim is to kill others, are you saying we shouldn't do anything?
12. Well, I didn't say do nothing. By all means protect yourself, and if it means to run, please flee. But don't label them. Why? It is their collective 'unconscious self' that makes them see others as enemy. With enough light shone to them, they may soon begin to think about...
13. ...the thoughts playing in their minds, propelling them to want to kill others. Once they begin to doubt those thoughts, phew, light enters. Unconsciousness gives way to consciousness, and a new chapter is opened...
14. Until then, pay close attention to what you passionately resent in others. What can't you stand or irritates you? Some say it's a pathway to discover purpose. But I dare say tread that path softly. It may be a reflection of something buried deep inside your unconscious self.
1. Originally, religion is a system of education (or belief system) designed to keep slaves subjected to their slave-masters, make them accept their lot in life (as slaves or second-class citizens), and to keep their hopes and focus on the afterlife. #NewNigeria
2. With this tool, a people who were once free to dream, to aspire, and to live, soon become contented to give up their dreams and aspirations, and to suppress their hopes and feelings so they won't offend their masters and "god". #NewNigeria
3. Any slave who has the effrontery to dream, to aspire, to long for freedom, will soon face the wrath and judgment of "god", by paying the ultimate price of giving his life. #NewNigeria#NigeriaNotes
