The mistake made by the likely Russian account, an admin in a Pennsylvania for Trump Facebook Group, was that it appeared to have accidentally liked the page Молекулярная диагностика 2020. This was the only Russian page out of hundreds of page likes.

Молекулярная диагностика 2020 (Molecular Diagnostics) is a Moscow conference: "The leading event in the field of molecular diagnostics and related science and medicine trends in Russia."
It is supported by The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. bit.ly/31Kegna
On top of that mistake, the account took an image of an actress and mirrored it horizontally to avoid reverse image search detection. They also appeared to have taken photos of German Shepherd puppies from Pinterest and pretended they belonged to them. bit.ly/31Kegna
But this barely scratches the surface of this story. The story combines Russia, a Gulf War vet, QAnon, #WeBuildTheWall, NFL kneeling, COVID-19, George Floyd, Amy Coney Barrett and the swing state of Pennsylvania...
The story also includes the subjects Black Lives Matter, the Clinton Foundation, DCLeaks, Breitbart, Tucker Carlson Tonight, George Soros, Brian Kolfage, and the 2016, 2018, and 2020 elections.
The account was active from April 2016 through October 2020. bit.ly/31Kegna
The likely Russian accounts disappeared only hours after Snopes asked Facebook about their likely connection to Russia, right before the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
One account was an admin in a swing state FB group for more than four years. bit.ly/31Kegna
Our research showed that the likely Russian account received a significant amount of total engagements over the course of 4+ years, including one false post that was shared nearly 150,000 times.
It’s likely millions of Americans were reached by this effort.
Evidence leans strongly toward Russia, very strongly in fact, but the only people who can say with 100% certainty are the account holders, or perhaps Facebook...

1/ NEW from me via @snopes. A likely Russian admin was active in a Pennsylvania for Trump Facebook Group since before the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and just disappeared this month after we contacted FB with questions. bit.ly/31Kegna#Election2020
2/ The Facebook admin account's activity paralleled descriptions of fake personas mentioned in the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee's report on Russia's efforts.
Following Trump's 2016 victory, the account defended Russia from accusations of foreign interference.
3/ The admin account was named "Gina Grin." The account (and what appeared to be a backup account) had around 2,000 total profile followers, while the Facebook Group now has 115,000 members.
Here's what we know about the inauthenticity of these accounts.
2/ All 3 Facebook groups appeared to engage in coordinated inauthentic behavior, whether with fake accounts in admin slots, or with duplicate accounts with the same person having several accounts that were all admins.
3/ The largest of the three Facebook groups that Snopes reporters noticed had been removed was Trump Train 2020, Red Wave, which amassed nearly 1.1 million members in just over three months. It was created in June.
That means an average growth of 366,000 members per month.
2/ Right now, 3 of the accounts that managed the group are still available on Facebook. One of them is named Elisabeth Kim, but features a profile photo of a woman with a name tag that says "Marti Jordan."
Kayleigh McEnany OFFICIAL was removed just weeks ahead of the election.
3/ Snopes also found these pages that were managed from Macedonia:
1/ For one example of just how badly @Facebook has prepared for this election year, TWO YEARS AGO I tweeted quite a lot about a "Sarah Huckabee Sanders Supporters" Facebook group that has fake account admins.
1/ Content hosted by social media companies is contributing to the deaths of so many people for years now, and they won't change their ways because they're basically saying "enough people have not died yet for us to care to enact real change on our platforms."
2/ They allow far leaning grifters (the worst of us all) and countless fake accounts with American flag emojis to peddle and elevate harmful bullshit.
3/ Once again next year social media companies will make their apparently pointless appearance before Congress where nothing actually happens after they leave.
There will be news reports talking about their appearance before Congress, but did anything change because of it?
