About 2-3 weeks ago i started getting more serious about cold outreach for YUMS. I want to start building/selling 30 micro-sites for restaurants per month. So i need to get in front of my audience somehow. (2/8)
Our original plan was to create mockups for every restaurant, and send out custom emails like that.
The problem is that this requires a lot of setup, its very tedious.
The demos look great but they require too much time just to go un-opened and get no replies.
(3/8)
Because of the prep time it takes this means I send waaaaay less emails. I think a lot of it is a mental thing and me putting it off because of the friction involved on my end.
So after 2-3 weeks i’ve only send about 40 emails 👎
I need to be sending 50-100/day. (4/8)
Low numbers means it’s hard to know what’s actually working or not
I brainstormed a bit and landed on a new solution.
Send a basic demo/screenshot that shows a variety of restaurants. Like the image at the top of the thread. (5/8)
We will use that as I think it’s “good enough” just to generate interest and get some replies back
With this new more general image we can easily scale it up to 100 emails per day.
But obviously we lose customization. (6/8)
I’ve also been tweaking the email and subject line. To make it short & sweet.
📩 Right now we have about 30-40% open rate but need to improve the reply rate.
Hopefully that go come up as we scale outreach because right now we just don’t know. (7/8)
Will follow up with this in about a week or two.
🤔 Have you used cold outreach strategies for your business? How has it worked for you? (8/8)

About 3 months ago I started 😋 “Yums” as a way to help restaurants get more orders from their social traffic via high converting, mobile friendly micro-sites.
Here’s our journey so far and what’s coming next.
A thread ⬇️ (1/?)
🤔 The Problem:
Most restaurant website are old, slow, not mobile optimized and worst of all don’t have clear navigation / Call To Action to simply place an order. (2/?)
💡 Our solution:
Build small, mobile-first sites focusing only on the most essential CTAs
Pushing customers to the call, view menu & place an order.
The most important actions that customers want, and that owners NEED. (3/?)
