@Genevievewsws at #Socialism2020 rally today: "Young people have a deep desire to change the world to sweep aside all the violence and human degradation that is brought on by the capitalist system. Politically however their is no outlet outside of our movement for youth"
the ruling class is well aware of the mass disillusionment with the Democratic party. they know the masses of society are moving to the left. It is for this reason that they've put forward their own "left" candidates such as Bernie Sanders
Millions of young people supported Bernie Sanders and they were motivated by genuine statements, and were attracted to his left rhetoric, his attacks on the billionaire class, his occasional and less and less so identification as a socialist. In a word, his class appeal.
Sanders campaign has given way to ever further shifts to the right. After he announced his dropping out of the presidential race, right as coronavirus cases were reaching their first race and hospitals where being overwhelmed, he endorsed Joe Biden and told all of his supporters
to give it their all for Joe... In response to the multi racial multi ethnic protests against police violence, Sanders was silent. When he did finally address the situation, he called for the police officers to get a raise.
Now as class antagonisms are reaching a fever pitch, Sanders is doing everything in his power to obscure the class character of society, campaigning alongside Kamala Harris to get out the vote for Biden
The ruling class has something of a division of labor. Sanders plays a particular function, providing a left cover for a right wing capitalist party. Every advanced country has its own variety of Sanders. In Britain their is Corbynism in Greece their is the experience of Syriza,
in Spain their is Podemos. They are all used to prevent social opposition from finding a genuine progressive outlet. These figures create the conditions for a further shift to the right, along with a disorientation of broad masses of people.
Sanders played a critical role in creating the conditions for Trump's victory by directing all opposition behind Clinton.
To the extent that the working class remains trapped in the Democratic Party, it does not advance its own solution to the crisis with its own program, the most right wing forces will exploit the situation no matter who is in the White House.
Every effort has been made and will be made to divert opposition back into the safe confines of the two party system.
Young people, workers, must be warned that their will be more Sanders and more AOC's individuals and organizations that are used to convince workers that despite the 200 years experience with this party that they should give the Democrats just one more shot.
The justification being used to browbeat youth into being trapped inside the Democratic party is being conducted on the lowest possible level.
Their is Sanders who Slanders his supporters as "irresponsible", their is Alexandria Cortez who just made the cover of Vogue magazine insisting that "youth must be pragmatic"Their is the slogan one hears on social media ad nauseum to quote end quote "settle for Biden"
Their is the slogan one hears on social media ad nauseum to quote end quote "settle for Biden"Youth should really stop and consider concretely what they are being asked to settle for exactly.
To settle for Biden is to settle for the party that institutionalized drone assassinations including US citizens... that jailed & tortured @xychelsea & persecuted Julian Assange, the party that oversaw bloodletting in Afghanistan and Iraq, the bombing of Libya,
the six year long war for regime change in Syria, and the support for the Saudi led destruction of Yemen.
Or if one wants to go back further, this is the party responsible for the exclusion of the Japanese and Chinese immigrants, for Jim Crow segregation, for the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the launching of the Korean War and the Vietnam War
This is what it means to settle for the Democratic Party. ts a completely legitimate & healthy sentiment that so many young people want to oppose Trump. However one must understand the root of the matter.
Out of what does Trump arise? This is not a fight primarily against one individual...Its a fight against an entire system; capitalism.Further more, ones politics can't be about what you are fight, but also what you are fighting for.
It is necessary now to assimilate the experience of the Sanders campaign, to draw the appropriate conclusions, youth must reject all types of pragmatic politics, that hopes for a solution to the crisis in the working class without a direct challenge to the capitalist system.
What workers and young people need, above all, is their own politics. Working class, socialist, politics. Not the "Political Revolution" to promote the Democratic party that is put forward by figures like Sanders. But a socialist revolution, to overthrow capitalism.
The Socialist Equality Party is fighting for Social Equality, that is for the vast sums of wealth monopolized by the rich through the exploitation and evisceration of the working class to be seized and directed towards the satisfaction of social needs.
We are fighting for internationalism, based on the principle that workers in every country have the same social interests, and the same class enemy. We are fighting for the defense of Democratic Rights, for the defense of arts and culture, science and education...
for the right to leisure, were proposing not mild reforms that the ruling class will not tolerate, but revolution, the overthrow of capitalist property relations through the establishment of democratic control of the giant banks and corporations.
We're fighting for the political mobilization of the working class, in opposition to the Democratic and Republican Parties, to take power, and establish a workers government to reorganize economic life in the United States and internationally on the basis of social need...
and not private profit.
...No matter what the outcome of the election on Tuesday, none of the fundamental problems facing workers will be resolved, and their is so much at stake.
We call on workers not to settle, but to join our party and fight for a better world, to fight for principles, to take up the fight for socialism.

Just listened to David North on online forum: "The only effective response to trumps efforts to create a fascistic regime is one that is based on the independent social and political mobilization of the working class. " #quotes #SundayThoughts
"...And that mobilization must begin by preparing mass popular resistance to any attempt by fascist gangs that are working to suppress votes and overturn the results of the election."
"...The fight against trump and the emergence of American fascism can not be developed let alone be successful as long as the working class is tied to the Democratic Party..." #quotes #facts

Fascists intimidated and rammed the #BidenBus, and #FascistTrump endorsed it. He's planning a #CoupdEtat directing violence against political opponents. Dems wont appeal to the masses to defend democratic rights b/c they fear a mass working class movement. #Thread #Election2020
Don Jr called for the ambush, directly implicating the Trump Admin (as if it weren't already obvious)

Fascists connected to the Trump admin have already been exposed in several states trying to perform coups as covered here: wsws.org/en/articles/20…
