1. By all means, Christians are meant to be engaged in the political process. Through the prophet Micah, God continues to tell His people, "To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." But our hope is in the God revealed in Jesus alone. #Election2020
2. Remember Psalm 146:3-7: "Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing...
3. (Psalm 146:3-7, cont'd.) "Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever...
4. (Psalm 146:3-7, cont'd.) "He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry."
I vote in elections for people to handle the housekeeping chores that are necessary for governments to do in a fallen world in which not everyone loves their neighbor:...
5. Things like national security, justice, health care, the postal service, law enforcement, Social Security, Medicare, protecting the environment, fostering equality of opportunity, protecting freedom of speech, of religion, of association, tax collection, food and drug...
6. ...testing, the regulation of commerce, and standards for health care and pharmaceuticals.
God establishes the coercive powers of governments to force people who do not voluntarily accede to His loving rule over their lives through Jesus Christ to do what's right.
7. It's important stuff. But it's not the most important stuff. The most important is this: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life...
8. " For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him...
9. "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." (Jesus, in John 3:16-18)
That's what's most important and nothing, not even #Election2020, even comes close!

1. A friend shared this over on Facebook. I like it.
By the way, I'm a lifelong student of History and got my undergraduate degree in Social Studies Education, which is mostly history.
2. There has never been an election in the history of the Republic, so far as I know, when the results were certified by the respective states on election night. County election boards and state...
3. ... Secretaries of State, the chief elections officers in the respective states, are, overwhelmingly, particular about getting things right.
I expect that we will have a very good idea of the winners of federal, state, and county elections...
1. From my morning quiet time with God: [Jesus said:] "For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day...
2. "...No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day..." (John 6:40, 44)
These are comforting words, originally spoken to a disbelieving crowd who wanted Jesus to be a king who did their bidding, like modern-day...
3. ...political candidates pandering for votes. But Jesus wasn't out to win a popularity contest. He was offering all of us more than "a chicken in every pot and a Maserati in every garage."
1. I didn't watch the #DemocraticNationalConvention. But when I'd read allegations that the words "under God" were removed from the Pledge of Allegiance during the event, I looked into it. Here are clips from all four nights when the Pledge was recited.
That’s why we need Jesus, God the Son. He fulfilled all of God’s commands perfectly and bore the punishment we deserve on the cross. God the Father raised Him from the dead. All who repent and believe in Him share in Hus resurrected life.
It doesn’t depend on our being good enough. We’re not. I’m not. We’re saved from sin, death, and condemnation by the power of God’s grace creating faith in Jesus in us.
