Reporters and media outlets interested in GA's vote count tonight--Time to quit tolerating Gwinnett Cty Bd of Elections's withholding at least 5,000 counted ballots. They have the vote count secreted away and won't release because they "don't want to confuse voters!"

See thread
2/ This is irresponsible but also illegal. Time for media to step up and threaten legal action early tomorrow morning if Director Kristi Royston doesn't release the tallies immediately.
Here is the law--
3/ Gwinnett Bd. is trying to move certification date up to Monday (from next Friday deadline) and assure that candidates have no time to review results before certification--robbing the candidates of a chance for a discretionary recount.
Explained here--
4/ Clayton County still at work to get the tallies out!! Thanks Clayton!!

Gwinnett finished tallying tonight and went home continuing to withhold the count and has been withholding ballot counts for 36 hours.

Whose elections are these anyway?

URGENT alert-- GA candidates in tight races-@GaSecofState is making it impossible to obtain a discretionary recount.
You have until the day of the county certification to ask for a recount from the county election board. But SOS is trying to close window. See thread. 1/ #gapol
2/ If you think that your race deserves additional scrutiny of a recount of some or all of the precincts, you can petition your bi-partisan Bd. of Elections (in most counties). But you must do so BEFORE the certification date.
Here's where it gets tricky...
3/ The SOS is rushing the process of county certification. Cty. certification deadline is 11/13. But SOS is pushing for no later than 11/9 to slam the door shut. 5 counties certified today!

The plan is to do it so fast that you can't analyze the data in time to ask.

1/ The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the @GaSecofState granting the stay on the requirement we @CoalitionGoodGv had won to have paper pollbook backups and adequate emergency ballot processes to provide resiliency on Election Day.
Order is here. bit.ly/CGG11CA
2/ Amazing that @GaSecofState fights protections that would reduce lines and give secure paper backups for pollbooks and touchscreen machines on Election Day.

The recent long lines and E-Net and pollbook failures in early voting make it clear that back up is needed.
3/ Given that Trump is encouraging in-person voting on Election Day, seems that the pollBook failures and polling place need for emergency ballots are destined to hit 🐘voters the hardest. 🤔

Wonder why they want long lines for 🐘s?

1/ I keep hearing cable news pundits wrongly tell viewers that voters cannot observe the polls unless they are trained poll watchers. That is misinformation. It varies by state, but elections are meant to be transparent with public oversight!
2/ Check your state law. It likely provides transparency for public involvement at the polls. GA and SC permit public in to watch all activities in the polls. Don't leave the public observation to the bad guys . The good guys need to show up to ensure adequate oversight!
3/ I fear that pundits are trying to discourage some trouble makers from going to polls. Best way to do that is to have the good guys there to observe, exercising their rights to do so.

The most outrageous, reckless, irresponsible, dishonest thing I have seen in my 11 years in elections is what the GA SOS is doing to replace system software with untested uncertified software on eve of the election!
See our letter to Fulton County. 1/
…altionforgoodgovernance.sharefile.com/d-s9214e091f1c…
2/ The letter explains the many state law violations that Fulton (as the largest GA county) is engaged in. But we believe that all counties are following @GaSecofState directions rather than common sense and the law. They are creating another Election Day GA train wreck!
3/ The press hasn't said much about this. Some reporters can hardly believe it is true, they tell me.

I expect that it will become a national news story once the Trump COVID news leaves room for anything else.

@Joseph_Marks_ wrote about it. washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/…

Kinda early for Halloween, but if you want to read really scary stuff, read the transcript of the court conference today on how the @GaSecofState is planning to install ALL NEW SOFTWARE (uncertified, untested) in 34,000 touchscreen voting machines. 1/
…altionforgoodgovernance.sharefile.com/d-s27c539a976d…
2/ What could possibly go wrong?
Using real voters as guinea pigs to "test" the brand new software that even the federal government has not seen or reviewed.

There is a sensible alternative---hand marked ballots that can be audited. If everything failed, we could hand count.
3/ When will the public (and candidates) begin to wonder why the SOS is so obsessively committed to totally flawed system for the Nov. election?

Someone needs to help us @CoalitionGoodGv raise hell!

1/ Story thread--the most recent GA voting mess:

On Friday, @GaSecofState 's office announced they were ceasing all pre-election testing statewide of the voting equipment for the Nov. election, stating that there was a "database error." Hmmm.

Here's what they sent counties:
2/ "We will try to minimize the delay it will cause." That sounds uncertain, when the testing schedule was woefully inadequate anyway.

On Sept. 10, we argued to the Court that the State was grossly shortcutting requiring machine testing. (2020 not good yr for shortcuts.)
3/ Now counties have to wait for a new database and have a do-over of voting machine and scanner testing? Early voting starts on Oct. 12!! This means that 11 business days out, they have no tested machines.

There is no way this is going to work well. We let the Court know.
