3. When a star is born, it is because it has enough mass to create enough heat, gravity & pressure to sustain nuclear fusion.

4. From the moment a massive star creates iron, it only has seconds to live. The star is trying to dump energy into that iron ball & trying to make it fuse, but it can’t.

5. As soon as that iron starts to be created in the core, the star has written its death sentence. The battle between gravity trying to crush the star, & fusion trying to blow it apart, is over. With iron, fusion hits a dead end. GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS!!

8. Telescopes around the world, scan the skies for supernovae. Scientists used to believe that after a Supernova occurs, a star would literally blow itself into bits & there will be nothing left. Well, they were wrong.
9. There is a corpse of a supernova explosion, it comprises of the most exotic matter known to science.
Even after this universe’s most violent explosion, there is something left behind; it’s called a ‘Neutron star.’ It’s a solid most fantastic state of ‘matter’ in the universe.

10. So the superdense core is now a neutron star. It’s around 30Kms across & unbelievably heavy. It’s incredibly dense, just a cubic centimeter, size of sugar cube of neutron star material.

11. Could you beat that??? A dying star doesn’t just leave the corpse of neutron star, it blasts some new elements far out into space. These clouds contain the building blocks of the universe. Everything we know & love is built from this ‘star dust.’
12. Only a supernova has enough energy to fuse all these building blocks of life. Without the supernovae, there is no you, & there is no me. It’s as simple as that.
