The coronavirus epidemic is raging in Iowa. Today:

3 more deaths (total 1,845, including 130 just in November).

4,212 new confirmed cases (5th straight day over 3,500).
1,417 new cases for kids since Friday

#StopCOVID19
Deaths from coronavirus were reported in Henry, Mahaska, and O'Brien Counties.

That was the 7th death in Henry County, 19th death in O'Brien County, and 26th death in Mahaska County from this deadly infectious disease.

#IowaMourns
In addition to 3 more deaths, Iowa reports hospitalizations for coronavirus were up to 1,034 - the highest yet - including 184 in intensive care (down 6) and 82 on ventilators (up 5).

There were 152 new admissions to Iowa hospitals for coronavirus in the last 24-hour period.
The number of long-term care outbreaks continues to be reported at 92.

There have been 890 deaths among long-term care residents from coronavirus.
Between 10 am Nov. 8 and 10 am Nov. 9, there were 4,212 new cases of coronavirus reported in Iowa, pushing Iowa's total to 156,816.

That's five days in a row over 3,500 per day, for a total of 20,769 new cases reported since 10 am on November 4.
Subtracting deaths (1,845) and "recoveries" (101.041) from total cases (156,816), there are now 53,930 active cases of coronavirus in Iowa - the highest yet - or one out of every 59 Iowans!
The state missed a daily update for the number of Iowa kids who have tested positive, but that number is up 1,036 since the last report, for a total of 14,448.

That's up 1,417 since Friday at 10 am.

That's up 9,910 since Sept. 1.

Danger for kids, families, staff, and public.
The 4,212 new cases were confirmed on 9,941 reported tests (from 1,030,973 to 1,040,914). Dividing new cases by reported tests equals 42.4%.

The state's "positive case analysis" shows 2,952 new cases on 10,700 tests for rate of 27.6%.

Even without missing cases, way too high!
There are 77 counties where Gov. Reynolds loosened Iowa's limited coronavirus restrictions May 1, without an alternative safety plan.

Today, they had 1,446 new cases (total 65,502) and 2 more deaths (total 724).

On April 30, they had 559 total cases and 11 total deaths.
Now for county data.

People said they liked the test data, so I'm going to try it another way:

New cases-new reported tests and total cases.

Please remember the state has acknowledged it is not reporting all tests.

. . .
This means, for today's data, at least, I am not providing the percentage for each county.

If you want to divide new cases by new reported tests, you can get the percentages. Today, all but eight counties are 20% or higher today.

. . .

Too many cases!
As I noted earlier today, this is out of control.

Linn County’s new cases have increased to 3,609 over the last two weeks compared to 850 over the prior two weeks:
We urgently need more Iowans to stay home if possible, wear mask when out, keep your distance, wash frequently.

We also need Gov. Reynolds to take action to slow down the spread. Call her office at 515-281-5211 or contact her at this link: governor.iowa.gov/contact
If you'd like more data about a particular county or region, let me know and I'll do my best to provide it.

I apologize for how long this thread took me to prepare. I don't think the change today saved me much if any time.

It is so disappointing to see the rate at which coronavirus is spreading in Iowa.

Please take care and help stop the spread of this deadly infectious disease.
Typo: Linn County’s new cases have increased by 3,609 over the last two weeks compared to 850 over the prior two week

Just heard advertisement by Ashley Hinson that brags about her efforts to help people with the coronavirus epidemic and the derecho.

Huh? Not as an Iowa state representative. She hasn't voted for anything to help people suffering from coronavirus or the derecho.

(1/4)
On the derecho, the Iowa Legislature hasn't been in session, and Gov. Reynolds hasn't called a special session.

On the coronavirus, the Republican majority did not pass a single bill to slow down or stop the spread, or help people who were suffering its consequences.

(2/4)
In fact, since the Republicans adjourned the legislative session on June 14, there have been over 68,000 new cases of coronavirus and 730 Iowans have died from it.

That's nothing to brag about.

Earlier today, I shared the statewide numbers for coronavirus in Iowa: 10 more deaths, hospitalizations up to 402, and 1,107 new confirmed cases.

We now know the new cases included 108 more kids under age 18, up to 7,762.

Now for the county-by-county data:
The 77 counties where Gov. Reynolds first loosened Iowa's limited restrictions May 1, without an alternative safety plan, were up 539 new cases for total of 36,189 cases.

They had 4 deaths reported, for a total of 470.

On April 30, they had 559 total cases and 11 total deaths.
Sioux County (pop. 35,000) had the most new cases in the 77 counties.

For 17 of the last 18 days, it has had more new cases than Story (pop. 97,000) and Johnson (pop. 147,000).

Sioux: 51
Story: 16
Johnson: 21

Gov. Reynolds, doing anything to stop the spread in Sioux?
