I asked Edison Research about this @OANN report that @realDonaldTrump tweeted about: A spokesperson told me: "It is hard to respond to these reports that not only have no legitimacy but for the most part seem to be completely made up." 1/2
"The #1619Project does not argue that 1619 is our true founding."
"The 1619 Project is a major initiative observing the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. It aims to reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding..."
While I understand and sympathize with this position, simply hanging onto Donald Trump for another term is not going to do anything more than slightly delay the effects of the leftward lurch of the Democratic party, a lurch Trump's elevation has enabled and exacerbated.
If you believe that the extremes of the Democratic party push some people towards Trump, thereby forcing them to back someone they might reject under normal circumstances, then the reverse is valid as well. Trump's extremism will beget more leftward extremism.
If conservatives/Republicans continue to normalize voting and enthusiastically supporting someone like Trump, the road back will be even more difficult as the opposition digs in even more.
Turns out the Washington Post uncovered the Great Mailbox Conspiracy ELEVEN YEARS AGO!
2009: "...half of the blue boxes in the Washington area have disappeared in the last nine years, and 200,000 nationwide have been plucked up in the last 20 years, leaving 175,000 total."
Here's a statement from the Provo, Utah police on this incident:
"A male protestor ran to the SVU on the passenger side, pointed a handgun at driver and shot one round through the window. The driver, who was struck by the bullet, hit the gas trying to leave the situation."
"The same protestor ran after the vehicle and shot a second round that went through the rear passenger window. The video then shows that the protestor conceals the firearm and continues to protest."
Note: The @ProvoPolice statement indicates there was a "planned Police Rally and a Counter protest" - it is not clear which group the shooter was affiliated with, only that he "conceals the firearm and continues to protest." Clarification from the @ProvoPolice would be helpful.
The @NYtimes OWN REPORTING on June 1: "By morning, the devastation in Manhattan was unlike anything New York had seen since the blackout of 1977. Block after block of boutiques in the Flatiron district had their windows shattered and’ their goods looted." nytimes.com/2020/06/01/nyr…
