Your top priority was to weaken the FCC's authority to regulate the internet. You did that when you repealed #NetNeutrality. Meaning that when you needed to actually exercise your authority to close the #DigitalDivide in the middle of a pandemic, you had no way of doing so.
I could laugh about how bad Ajit Pai's policies have been under #COVID19 but the sad truth is that the FCC's ineptitude has real consequences. twincities.com/2020/11/10/st-…
And the programs that were designed to help people navigate crisis like the Lifeline program have been routinely targeted by Ajit Pai for reforms to weaken it. themarkup.org/ask-the-markup…
Instead of helping people stay connected to the communications tools they need, Ajit Pai has instead stood in the way. Even now when he should be preparing for a transition. arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20…
If the #DigitalDivide was in fact Ajit Pai's top priority then there's no way to look at the last four years and especially this past year as anything but a failure.

The problem with this story is that police using facial recognition does not exist in some sort of vacuum. Past police conduct and abuses factor in. No level of regulation will make this tool safe to use against people of color. nytimes.com/2020/11/11/tec…
There is a longer history of police reforms that have failed to make policing a safe institution for people of color. One such longer view of history is @MPD_150's report Enough is Enough. mpd150.com/report/
This NY Times repeats the same tired story that the promise of "public safety" is worth the risk to some people's lives. The story of Robert Williams misidentified by police in Detroit is chalked up as an unfortunate mistake, when in fact its by design. #banfacialrecognition
@propublica There irony is I do want to go back to where I came from, Los Angeles. It's just gonna take me a little longer. But I know for my family, going back to where they came from is impossible.
@propublica The rural community in El Salvador where my mom grew up in, depopulated during the Civil War in the 1980s. U.S. trained death squads forced people to flee.
