TEMPLE OF THE DAY: On this auspicious day of Karthigai Somavaram, let us know about a glorious temple which stands witness to a divine play and bears the footsteps of Lord Shiva in its premise.

Sri Kripapureeshwarar temple in Thiruvennainallur, Villupuram dt, TN @punarutthana
This is that divine place where Lord Shiva appeared as an old man claiming Sundarar ( first of 63 Nayanmars Shaivaite saints) as his attendant on his wedding day.
Here, the Lord is called ‘Atkondanadhar’ and Supreme mother blesses us as ‘Mangalambigai’
The current structure of this temple with its enchanting Dravidian architecture is probably more than 1400 years old.
Sundaramoorthy Nayanar, considered to be the reflection of Lord Shiva born as Nambi Aroorar in Thirunavalur few kms away from Thiruvennainallur in 8th century AD.
On his wedding day, Lord Shiva appeared as an old man stopped his marriage claiming that Sundarar is an attendant to him. HE also carried a palm leaf script in which Sundarar’s grand father has allegedly signed that his entire lineage would be slaves to HIM.
Lord Shiva as old man took Sundarar and his entire marriage party to Thiruvennainallur temple and called for the case to be resolved in the temple. Heated arguments followed and it was finally proved that Sundarar indeed was an attendant as per his grandfather’s promise.
As the case was settled and Sundarar was to follow his new master, the old man entered the sanctum Santorum and disappeared to everyone’s awe and surprise.

As Sundarar realised his folly of abusing HIM during the entire course of arguments, he pleaded for mercy.
Then the divine voice instructed him to take the path of Bhakti and sings hymns which was later compiled as ‘Thevaram’.
Sundarar, awe struck unable to find right words, the Lord blessed him with the first word ‘You called me Pittha (madman). So start with it’
He sang his first hymn ‘Pitha Piraisudi Perumane..’

Thus this ancient is a witness to this divine play which sowed the seeds of ‘Periya puranam’ in later days. Even today, devotees can have darshan of the footwear (Padukas) in the temple.
Do visit this ancient glorious temple where the Lord has walked, argued, blessed. This temple is closer to Thiruvannamalai.
May Lord Kripapureeswarar and Maa Mangalambigai bless us all 🙏🏻

Today’s post is about one such revival activity done in 2019. @punarutthana @raaga31280
An ancient dilapidated Shiva temple probably as ancient as 700 years was lying in ruins in Koogaiyur around 250 kms and 12 kms from Chinna Salem on Salem-Perambalur road.
Inscriptions day the Lord’s name is Karyampureeshwarar. With glorious linga thirumeni, the Lord’s presence & divinity was undeniable there. One could feel His presence. With no roof, He was drenched in sun, rain, wind continuously for centuries.@SaveTemplesBH

Om Namo Narayanaya 🙏🏻

Thondai Nadu, northern part of ancient Thamizhagam with northern boundary at Thirupati is a treasure trove of divine temples. Also the birth & tapo stal of great saints.

One such ancient temple was brought to light by Annamalaiyar Arappani Kuzhu recently
Sridevi Bhoodevi sametha Sri Adi Kesava Perumal temple at Bagasalai, 45 kms from Poonamallee near Chennai. This temple was in a highly dilapidated condition when Kuzhu surveyed it before Uzhavarapani.
@pollaavinayen @punarutthana @raaga31280
Probably there was no Pooja done for last 200 years. Villagers themselves avoided this place as it was home to many poisonous snakes. The temple structure was completely hidden in dense vegetation.
A video below when team surveyed the temple before Uzhavarapani

TEMPLE OF THE DAY: Sri Mangalambigai sametha Sri Manganathar temple -Uthirakosamangai in Ramanathapuram district, TN.
One of the oldest Shiva temples dating back to Ramayana period & closely associated with Mandodhari, wife of Ravana. This temple is even older than Rameshwaram. ImageImageImageImage
A Tamizh saying “Man thodriya podhe mangai thondriyadhu” explains the antiquity of this temple.
Uthiram - Upadesh; Kosam - secret; Mangai - Devi Parvati. Here, the Lord blessed the Vedic secrets to Maa Parvati. Hence the name. Another uniqueness is it houses the Emerald Nataraja ImageImageImageImage
Mangalanathar blesses us as a Svayambu lingam and the supreme mother is called Mangalambigai. It houses emerald and spatika lingams. During Arudra/Thiruvathirai, people throng to witness the day long abhishekam of Emerald Nataraja. ImageImageImageImage

This ancient temple was in complete ruins and the team did Uzhavarapani on 19.02.2017. Locals were stunned to see such a temple existed there as it was completely covered by bushes and trees. Except Nandi which was broken, no vigrahams were found.
After Uzhavarapani...
The temple was reconstructed by villagers with support of several dharmics. With divine grace, Kumbabhishekam was performed with pomp on 10.11.2019.
