New training module from @HEIW_NHS states: "the main purpose is to achieve a better alignment of an individual’s gender identity with the physical body and/or social gender role". Let's be clear that this means medical and/or social transition. gpcpd.heiw.wales/clinical/gende…
'Gender identity' (described as 'an internal sense of self') is taken as a fixed immutable reality which must be matched by a 'social gender role' (the specific role for girls v boys is undefined) and the physical body (biologically male or female and impossible to change).
The section on children & young people states: "the only way to avoid damaging their well-being is to embrace their identification and how they navigate the gendered world in the moment." This is a very strong claim. Where is the research and evidence to support it?
What are the alternative ways to support a child or young person who is distressed about their gender, and what research shows these methods are damaging to a child's well-being? Is affirming to the child that they are the wrong sex the only way and has it been proved safe?
Health Education and Improvement Wales claims the module "updates on current terminology and language." This is true, it 'updates' scientifically correct terms with the terminology and language of a current ideology promoted by a cohort of political lobby groups.
The resources link to GIRES, Mermaids, Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence, all the usual suspects. @HEIW_NHS could you let us know why you reference these organisations with a shared ideological belief and political goals but with no clinical or medical qualifications?

The funding was due to come to an end in March 2020, it hasn't been 'axed.' These 'anti bullying' schemes have been a means to instigate a re-education programme for teachers & children, complete with a whole new lexicon of words and 'correct' language. bbc.co.uk/news/education…
Under the guise of 'anti bullying', same sex attraction has been erased and replaced with 'same gender' orientation. Lesbians can now be defined as male people with a penis. Lesbians who don't accept this are 'transphobic.' So much for 'anti bullying'.
Young people who don't conform to sex stereotypes are given a 'gender identity' model of understanding themselves which means a girl who is not 'feminine' must identify as Not a Girl. She becomes 'non-binary' or 'trans.' Otherwise she is 'cisgender' which means 'conforming.'
Expert analysis of the results of making 'sex' a self-id question in the census, by @ProfAliceS, @lnmackenzie1 & @janeclarejones. We already have one example of the seriously misleading results of a survey based on self-id of sex (thread).
We compared the Stonewall School Report 2012 (data gathered by sex) with the report of 2017 (data gathered by self-id). The School Report 2017 finding that 45% of trans young people have attempted suicide, has had a huge influence on policy making. transgendertrend.com/stonewall-scho…
We calculated the number of actual females who responded to the 2017 survey, and we found an anomaly. All other general population studies show a significant increase in rates of self-harm in girls since 2012. LGBT young people, in every other study, are particularly at risk.
Our schools pack is fully compatible with the new DfE guidance. First published in February 2018, it has been downloaded over 15,000 times and over 1,500 hard copies have been sent out to parents and schools. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. transgendertrend.com/product/school…
Our safeguarding concerns guide looks at examples of unsafe practice in guidance from organisations signposted by the DfE, including promising confidentiality to a child promotion of off-label drugs and erosion of consent. transgendertrend.com/product/safegu…
Our Children's Rights Impact Assessment of the Allsorts trans inclusion schools toolkit, used as the basis for transgender schools guidance by authorities across the UK, shows the impact of this guidance in relation to the UN Rights of the Child. transgendertrend.com/product/childr…
Important news: The NHS has today announced that Dr Hilary Cass OBE will lead an independent review into gender identity services for children and young people. “This review provides an opportunity to explore the most appropriate treatment and services required” - Dr Cass.
"The review will be wide-ranging in scope looking into several aspects of gender identity services, with a focus on how care can be improved for children and young people including key aspects of care such as how and when they are referred to specialist services.."
"It will also set out workforce recommendations for specialist healthcare professionals and examine the recent rise in the number of children seeking treatment."
Psychologists call for a review of @BPSOfficial guidelines promoting the affirmation approach. The BPS responds by saying they have consulted with Stonewall & the LGBT Foundation. Serious questions need to be asked about institutional policy capture. thepsychologist.bps.org.uk/volume-33/octo…
From the excellent letter: "The BPS guidance stipulates that practitioners validate a belief in gender (both in general and in particular to the individual’s sense of self) without considering the evidence base in relation to the practice of belief validation."
"The long-term implications for this population resulting from the provision or denial of access to treatment are substantial. [...] appropriate, evidence-based guidelines are imperative to support the skilled psychological practice which our profession seeks to uphold."
