Today on #WorldChildrensDay I am also thinking about the children in impoverished conditions in #Palestine. Since 2000, over 1,800 children have been killed across the Occupied Palestinian Territories. 
.@DCIsecretariat (international NGO) report that each year approximately 500-700 Palestinian children, some as young as 12 years, are detained and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system.
Large numbers of children across Palestine face major difficulties in accessing education as a direct result of Israeli occupation policies. #Education is a basic right and a necessity to build a better society, but remains elusive for many Palestinian children.
Ireland should seek to ensure that #Israel honour its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. We need to pass the #OccupiedTerritoriesBill and work with our #EU partners to achieve the two state solution and a hopeful future for the children of Palestine.
