It's Transgender Day of Remembrance and we will be holding an online vigil today to remember the names of the transgender people whose lives have been lost to anti-transgender violence this year.

Nikki Kuhnhausen, a transgender teen, was killed in Vancouver, Washington some time after her disappearance in June 2019. She was 17 years old.
Yahira Nesby, a Black transgender woman, was killed in New York on December 19, 2019. She was 33 years old.
Mia Perry, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Washington, D.C. on December 29, 2019.
Dustin Parker, a transgender man, was killed in McAlester, Oklahoma, on January 1, 2020. He was 25 years old. He is remembered for his enthusiasm for life.
Neulisa Luciano Ruiz, a transgender woman, was killed in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico in February 2020. Her community remembers her as humble and noble.
Yampi Méndez Arocho, a transgender man, was killed in Moca, Puerto Rico on March 5, 2020. He was 19 years old. He loved basketball and the NBA, his Facebook bio had one line, “Humility Prevails.”
Scott DeVore, also known as Scottlynn Kelly DeVore, a gender non-conforming person, was killed in Augusta, Georgia. They were 51 years old. DeVore is remembered as being “sweet” and “beautiful” by their friends.
Monika Diamond, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 18, 2020. She was 34 years old. She was active in Charlotte’s LGBTQ and nightlife communities.
Lexi, a transgender woman, was killed in Harlem, New York on March 28, 2020. She was 33 years old. According to those who knew her, Lexi had a “beautiful heart” and loved poetry, makeup, and fashion.
Johanna Metzger, a transgender woman, was killed in Baltimore, Maryland on April 11, 2020. She was known for her love of music and taught herself to play multiple instruments.
Serena Angelique Velázquez Ramos, a transgender woman, was killed in Puerto Rico on April 21, 2020. She was killed alongside Layla Pelaez Sánchez. She was 32 years old. She is remembered for being “full of life” and “a sincere friend.”

Penélope Díaz Ramírez, a transgender woman, was killed in Puerto Rico on April 13, 2020.
Nina Pop, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Sikeston, Missouri on May 3, 2020. She was deeply loved by her family and community.
Helle Jae O’Regan, a transgender woman, was killed in San Antonio, Texas on May 6, 2020. She was 20 years old. She was an outspoken about injustice and the prison industrial complex, as well as speaking up about decriminalizing sex work.
Tony McDade, a Black transgender man, was killed in Tallahasee, Florida on May 27, 2020. His loved ones remember him as being an energetic person with a big heart.
Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 9, 2020. Her friends remember her as a unique and beautiful soul.
Riah Milton, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Liberty Township, Ohio on June 9, 2020. She was 25 years old. She once posted on Facebook, “Never been scared to struggle. Imma get it eventually.”
Jayne Thompson, a transgender woman, was killed in Mesa County, Colorado on May 9, 2020. She was 33 years old.
Selena Reyes-Hernandez, a transgender woman, was killed in Chicago, Illinois on May 31, 2020. She was 37 years old.
Brian “Egypt’ Powers, a Black transgender person, was killed in Akron, Ohio in June 2020. They were 43 years old.
Brayla Stone, a transgender teenager, was killed in Dallas, Texas on June 25, 2020. She was 17 years old.
Merci Mack, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Dallas, Texas, on June 30, 2020. She was 22 years old. She enjoyed baking and was looking forward to returning to work.
Shaki Peters, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Amite City, Louisiana on July 1, 2020. She was 32 years old.
Bree Black, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Pompano Beach, Florida on July 3, 2020. She was 27 years old.
Summer Taylor, a non-binary person, was killed in Seattle, Washington on July 4, 2020. Taylor worked at a veterinary hospital and had spent the beginning of the summer participating in protests against police brutality.
Marilyn Cazares, a transgender woman, was killed in Brawley, California. Her family remembers her as someone who loved to “sing and dance” who “never bothered anyone.”
Dior H Ova/Tiffany Harris, a Black transgender woman, was killed in the Bronx, New York. She loved fashion and enjoyed posting photos of fashion brands she loved.
Queasha D Hardy, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 27, 2020. She was 22 years old. A hairstylist, she is remembered as “loving” and “truly one of a kind.”
Aja Raquell Rhone-Spears, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Portland, Oregon on July 28, 2020. She also went by Rocky Rhone. She owned her own clothing brand, International Barbie.
Lea Rayshon Daye, a Black transgender woman, died in Cuyahoga County Jail in Cleveland, Ohio on August 30, 2020. She was 28 years old.
Kee Sam, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Lafayette, Louisiana on August 12, 2020.
Aerrion Burnett, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Independence, Missouri on September 19, 2020. Burnett is remembered by loved ones as “the person you wanted by your side” when “you need to smile.”
Mia Green, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 28, 2020. She was 29 years old. Friends and family remember her smile as “so perfect and so contagious.”
Michelle Michellyn Ramos Vargas, a Puerto Rican transgender woman, was killed in San Germán, Puerto Rico on September 30, 2020. She was in her mid-30s.
Felycya Harris, a transgender woman, was killed in Augusta, Georgia in October 2020. She was 33 years old. Harris ran her own interior design company who made others feel comfortable in their own space.
Brooklyn Deshuna, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 7, 2020. She was 20 years old. She was studying cosmetology.
Sara Blackwood, a transgender woman, was killed in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 11, 2020. She enjoyed video games and was a fan of “My Little Pony.”
Angel Unique, a Black transgender woman, was killed in Memphis, Tennessee on October 25, 2020. She was a licensed cosmetologist whose loved ones remember as being “a bright person with a positive spirit.”
Yunieski Carey Herrera, a 39 year old transgender woman, was killed in Miami on November 17, 2020. She was 39 years old. Remembered for being “kind” and “strikingly beautiful,” she was a fixture of her local LGBTQ community as an activist, salsa dancer, and pageant competitor.
