Almost 2 years ago I did a thread examining the circumstances of each name on PFLAG's TDOR 2020 list. The lists are getting shorter every year, but I thought I'd circle back and do another.

Elios, 15 anni, era una persona non binaria. Amava leggere, soprattutto la mitologia e i grandi classici. Elios non era accettatə dalla madre e dalla scuola. Si è buttatə dal quarto piano di una palazzina, l’anno scorso, ma la notizia è stata diffusa solo lo scorso 17 ottobre.
Maudit, 29 anni, era una persona agender. Si è toltə la vita il 30 marzo scorso. Era unə poeta e si batteva contro lo stigma dell’HIV, gli stereotipi di genere e per la normalizzazione del ciclo mestruale delle persone trans*. Scriveva: “lasceremo che oggi siate voi a guardarlə”.

* These are violent crimes, meaning someone else took their lives. This number does not reflect those that took their own lives as a result of unmanageable pressures of discrimination, abandonment, homelessness, forced conversion therapy, etc.

* This number only includes those situations where Law Enforcement documents the victim as transgender. It does not include those killed where police and families hid the gender identity of the victim. This is a common occurrence and skews the numbers heavily.

Nikki Kuhnhausen, a transgender teen, was killed in Vancouver, Washington some time after her disappearance in June 2019. She was 17 years old.
Yahira Nesby, a Black transgender woman, was killed in New York on December 19, 2019. She was 33 years old.

1. It was 1977 I was 9 years old and had been experiencing some gender problems at home and at school, I was sat in the headmasters office he had called my parents to come to school to ask why I had eye makeup on and refused to remove it.
2. When the headmaster said “are you a Boy or a girl?” And in front of my dad I said “I should have been a girl” so my dad being the local GP arranged for me to see a child psychologist and then a child psychiatrist, at each session I was honest and told the truth
