1)
İt was basically a quite good article. I question one point made by Tobin, and another part of what he wrote needs a further look.
2)
A. Tobin assumes that Jews overwhelmingly voted for Biden, based on some informal surveys. The 60-77 % figure he used comes from surveys done based on membership lists, & membership list use heavily weighs results to over representation of Reform and liberal Jews.
3)
My estimate would be closer to 50% if adjusted to sampling issues.
4)
B. Tobin notes that the core response of why Jews rejected Trump was the belief that Trump was antisemitic, & that belief was based, when people were asked, on the claim that Trump’s statement about Charlotte Virginia, saying that there were “fine people on both side”....
5)
referred to the Nazis & KKK. The problem is the Democrats, including Joe Biden, kept repeating that lie that was created by CNN & MSNBC by editing the statement and cutting off the send part of it.
6)
That second part was Trump emphasizing that he did not mean the Nazis and KKK which he hated. So one can conclude that Trump lost Jewish votes because of a lie by the media and the Democrats.
7)
C. Tobin noted the cultural difference between Jewish Biden voters & Trump voters, the former committed to Universalism, wanting to see their Jewishness in universal terms as much like that of any other religion,...
8)
while Trump Voters saw their Judaism as something owned by the Jewish people, not universal.
9)
In short, on the left, Jews chose, like Jews who have always assimilated & lost their Jewish identity over generations, to want to be part of the greater world, maybe for safety, maybe for acceptance.
10)
One would also find a much higher proportion of intermarriage and assimilation on the left. But on the right, a lower rate of assimilation and intermarriage with Gentiles, and more of a dedication to things traditionally Jewish - from education to Israel.
11)
So on the left we see Jewish youth supporting BDS against Israel. Not on the Right.
THE 4TH AMENDMENT TO THE US CONSTITUTION PROTECTS YOUR PRIVACY IN YOUR OWN HOME.
1)
That means unless a warrant is issued by a sitting Judge, the police cannot come into your home and give you a fine for what you do in your home (some very limited restrictions)
2)
So, the orders to wear a mask in your own home, or to refrain from having guests for Thanksgiving -- with the threat of fines and imprisonment, are unconstitutional.
3)
Parsha Toldot is really a drama between two brothers and allegorically between two peoples and two approaches to defining civilization and it is a story that is repeated throughout history. 1)
There are lots of interpretations of the relationship between Jacob and Esau. One can look simply at the history as illuminated by the archeological evidence. One can interpret the story as Christians have since the writings of Paul.
2)
One can interpret it as the struggle between Jews and Rome as did our sages in the Jerusalem Talmud whose more recent history was filled with that ideological and physical conflict.

If you want a traditional interpretation, it won’t be here. If you would like something that focuses on some less noticed items, read on.
2)
“Sarah dies at age 127 and is buried in the Machpelah Cave in Hebron, which Abraham purchases from Ephron the Hittite for four hundred shekels of silver”

As I write, I do not know who, for sure, will be the President of the USA come January 20.
1)
But, I do see that the world outside is weighing its options in case Joe Biden is President, based on what he and his party have claimed they will do.
So, let’s call it “THE BIDEN EFFECT”
2)
Israel, Cyprus, & Greece agreed on extensive military coordination & cooperation today, November 12th. I have no doubt one element in this agreement was concern as to whether Biden will go back to Obama policies & lean toward Erdoğan’s Turkey & against Egypt’s Al-Sisi regime.

I HATE THE GOVERNMENT OF CHINA.

Not the people of China that are subjected to this Gov't. Just the Gov't.
THE WORLD IS STRUGGLING WITH A DISEASE, COVID-19 THAT THEY INTENTIONALLY SHIPPED TO THE REST OF THE WORLD PACKAGED WITH MISINFORMATION OR A REFUSAL TO INFORM, THOUGH THEY WERE OBLIGATED TO INFORM.

THIS WEEK THEY DESTROYED THE LAST VESTIGES OF FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY IN HONG KING, THOUGH THEY GUARANTEED THEY WOULD NOT.
AND IN THE PAST MONTH THEY HAVE ESCALATED THEIR THREATS TO TAIWAN.

I am afraid that the USA is losing that freedom which means so much more to the Democratic Republic than does any vote.
2)
Today in the USA, one can lose a job, one can be threatened, one can be physically attacked and injured, for daring to sall "ALL LIVES MATTER". or that "it is OK to call men "men"
and women "women" rather than "it".
