This analysis from @MattGrossmann is the first I’ve seen to suggest the GOP could retake the House in 2022. Post-census gerrymandering by red-state legislators remains a real threat despite delays.
It is imperative that the House of Representatives be enlarged.

Congress set the number of Representatives at 435 in 1911, when our population was 28% of today’s (93M v 331M).
The founders thought a House member should represent 30K people. (We’ll ignore slavery for the moment.)

In 1911, it was 200K people.

Today it’s about 760K.

James Madison proposed a formula tying the size of the House to the US population. His constitutional amendment failed.

Congress COULD change the size of the House. It stalled more than 100 years ago BECAUSE rural states saw the population shift to cities.
“[I]n our hyperpolarized, geographically clustered and gerrymandered age, single-member districts have become a threat to the health of America’s representative democracy.”

AMEN.

This is outrage porn.

IT IS NOT HELPING.
It feeds Trump's need to be center of attention.
It amplifies lies.
It makes Trump supporters feel validated in their distrust of the election.
It diverts attention from the SHIT that is going on during lame duck.

JUST SAY NO. Image
By amplifying his lies, NEWS MEDIA are enabling Trump's lame duck efforts to undermine voter confidence in the integrity of our elections.

NEWS MEDIA are enabling Trump's "fiddle while Rome burns" approach to COVID19.
NEWS MEDIA HAVE enabled Trump's super-spreader behavior by the way they covered his "rallies" and "events".

WHAT'S THE STATUS OF THE INVESTIGATION INTO TRUMP'S USE OF THE WHITE HOUSE ON ELECTION NIGHT?

You have to be shedding enough for tests to work. “About 40% of infections are spread by asymptomatic people with high viral loads” - but without symptoms, they are unlikely to be getting tested. @propublica
Quick tests as used in the US are very flawed. They throw false positives as well as false negatives.

“anyone who gets a single negative result shouldn’t use it as an excuse to go to a bar” or anywhere for that matter

RE Tamoxifen - last month:

COVID-19 infection can cause chemotherapy resistance development in patients with breast cancer and tamoxifen may cause susceptibility to COVID-19 infection

Tamoxifen causes down-regulation, mutation, or loss of estrogen receptors.

Why are news media amplifying Trump’s continued refusal to concede?
TRUMP’S NOISE masks the fruits of his deliberate thwarting of COVID public health efforts.

THIS HEADLINE is his legacy. MSM should devote their political coverage to COVID.

npr.org/sections/healt…
And I do NOT mean rosy, breathless and context-bare hype about COVID vaccines.

It’s HYPE (just look at stock prices) and any widespread distribution to average Americans is far in the future.
Do you REALLY think almost half of America (per polls) would be traveling and holding multi-family Thanksgiving dinners if we had ONE CONSISTENT PUBLIC HEALTH MESSAGE ABOUT COVID RISK?
