The high level of COVid gaslighting, disinformation and propaganda emanating from many conservatives is repugnant and horrifying.

Here we have an MP promoting disinformation, and completely dehumanizing those with co-morbidities.

According to MP Harder, you are irrelevant and just taking up valuable hospital space if you are not young, beautiful, completely healthy and resilient to COVid infection.

Reminds me of a Toni Collette movie clip from “Muriel’s Wedding.”

The women aghast at being labeled two-faced malignant people by their acquaintance in a wheel chair are incredulous that someone who isn’t perfect criticizes their hypocrisy, double standards and excessive egotism.

It’s one of Collette’s best screen performances.

The movie is a social commentary on the vain, egotistical and corrupt. How their assumptions, beliefs and values continue to dominate and influence society.

And why that dynamic is so pathetic and demoralizing. Which can be made irrelevant by rejecting those values.

Check out the clip. It’s funny and might make you laugh. Spoiler alert: it’s the end of the movie.

But it’s a perfect commentary on the attitude, beliefs and values that Rachael Harder is promoting by amplifying Postmedia repugnant disinformation.

So Harder is saying if you have a comorbidity, your death doesn’t count as a COVid statistic.

The people in Alberta who have died from COVid were not human losses, well, except for 10 out of 450. The rest were merely dead people walking. One foot already in a grave.

Those Albertans lives and deaths are insignificant and don’t count because they had pre-existing conditions and many were over 80 years of age. They were already on borrowed time & their deaths predictable, expected and irrelevant. They didn’t matter.

Good to know if Harder is your MP. And you aren’t perfect.

We shouldn’t extrapolate or over generalize by assuming all conservatives feel this way. But a quick review reveals it is by no means an isolated opinion and is a commonly expressed conservative value.

If you as an individual don’t produce profits for those who own a means of production, then you are not valued or deserving of consideration as a full fledged human being.

You’re trash. Extraneous. Lucky to be alive. Especially if you’re past the average lifespan of Albertans.

Those Canadians attached to superfluous human beings shouldn’t be so upset that so many of these unimportant members of society are dying. They were on borrowed time anyway. Those who died that were younger were health compromised. So again, less important.

They weren’t productive members of society or their productivity was less than what it costs to keep them alive. So their deaths are not true COVid deaths. They’re collateral damage caused by COVid, but unattributable to COVid directly.

Dehumanization is ugly and disgusting. Considering people only peripheral members in the overall human capital population, children, the aged and the health compromised are less relevant members of society to those with far right beliefs and values.

So high losses of life in these population subgroups are deemed insignificant. Why would these lives be considered when deciding public health policy that could severely impact the economy & profits that business owners require to stay afloat throughout this pandemic.

If you aren’t impacted negatively by this sentiment, you may be a far right libertarian, a fascist or a paleolibertarian.

Because I’ve never heard such a screwed up rationalization of policies meant to eliminate the weakest and most vulnerable since studying Nazis in WW2.

Yeah, you heard/read that correctly. This devaluation of human life and toxic rhetoric is the equivalent of Nazi attitudes, policies values and unsurprisingly Nazi strategy in 1933 Germany.

Nazi’s didn’t begin massive killings of millions immediately. They started with the weak, the infirm, the disabled, the mentally unfit.

German society allowed these eugenics programs to operate unquestioned. The young and healthy had nothing to worry about. Right?

We see what we want to see. Often we see what we expect to see.

We don’t expect elected officials to create policy that systematically kills the most vulnerable.

But it’s all there in black and white. Highlighted to point out the salient passages.

Nazi’s used the very same arguments to exterminate superfluous humans who were not fit for capitalist productivity. In the midst of a global Great Depression in which Germany had some of the worst economic impacts.

Guess who else implemented a robust eugenics program during the same historical period? The Social Credit Provincial Parties of Alberta and British Columbia.

Alberta’s eugenics program included sterilization without consent. And children that were identified in schools.

These eugenics laws and programs were a far cry from Nazi concentration camps and systemic extermination of those deemed unfit.

But the sentiment was the same.

What the history does NOT accurately reflect is the widespread religious support for eugenics. Protestant Anglo-Saxons & Evangelical Christians.

Those were the religious beliefs of the Famous Five feminists.

Socialism refers to the Social Credit Party. Of whom Reform Party, Canadian Reform Alliance Party and the current iteration of the CPC and UCP reflect the “Christian and Catholic” values and beliefs that are desired to be imposed on all citizens. This is paleolibertarianism.

The United Farmers Association were the architects of AB’s eugenics program. Animal husbandry shaped the program & designed after farming breeding practices for cattle & horses. Applied to human beings. Clearly dehumanization of those who weren’t white, Christian, Anglo Saxon.

History doesn’t repeat per say, but it rhymes.

Many have compared the problems that led to the Second World War to modern politics.

There is a reason.

The rhyming is unmistakable.

A disturbing number of CPC & UCP cons are disseminating propaganda dehumanizing victims of COVid. Using Nazi inspired rationale.

If that doesn’t send shivers down your spine, you’ve got blinders on.

Take off the blinders. You’re not a horse.

Neither are the people dying.
