#SupremeCourt bench led by Justice L Nageswara Rao to hear plea by one of the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination convicts - AG Perarivalan, for remission of sentence

#CBI has informed SC that it has no role in it as the issue is between the Tamil Nadu Governor and convict
Hearing begins.

Senior Adv Gopal Sankaranarayanan states a brief submission has been made in reply to the CBI affidavit
Matter to be taken up at the end of the board.
Hearing resumes

Justice Rao: we mainly want to decide on the aspect we have referred to as earlier.

Senior Adv Gopal Sankaranarayanan: Parole was given on Oct 9, he requested for police escort for medical exams. If the state can grant parole for another week
Justice Rao: we can extend the parole for a week and provide an expert so that he can be taken for medical
Sankaranarayanan: Parole was extended by Madras HC from Nov 9 to Nov 23
Supreme Court: we will extend the parole by a week and order that escort be provided so that Perarivalan can visit the hospital
SC: We will hear the matter on the next date for final disposal. Parole is extended for a week and Tamil Nadu is directed to provide escort to him for medical checks.

Tej Bahadur had challenged the rejection of his nomination as Samajwadi Party candidate from Varanasi constituency for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had initially filed his nomination as independent candidate but had later altered it to enter his nomination as SP candidate.
Bahadur's nomination papers were reportedly rejected by the returning officer, citing his failure to submit a certificate that he was not sacked from BSF for either corruption or disloyalty.

They however grant adjournment to the State by way of a last chance.

Chandrachud apprehends that the chargesheet may be filed by the Mumbai Police in the meantime.
