An Administration as diverse as the nation, clear about the task ahead, responsive to the people, and committed to bold policies that meet the scale of the crises we face.

That’s what I’m after.

Tonight, I feel encouraged.
A historic DHS Secretary will face a historic call to action:
A Black woman who’s an expert on race & economic injustice will play a lead role in pulling families back from the brink & building a more just economy:
And Linda Thomas-Greenfield has her work cut out for her to restore diplomatic relationships & redefine what a compassionate United States could do on the global stage

The November election is the most consequential in our lifetimes.

Today, I'm proud to make additional endorsements of colleagues & candidates who will bring a diversity of lived experience to the halls of Congress & carry with them the voices of the people they represent.
Since she was sworn-in to the U.S. Senate, @TinaSmithMN has been a strong advocate for the people of Minnesota. She's been a leading voice in critical fights to expand housing, empower students, protect workers, support our elders, & more. Image
.@MikeEspyMS is no stranger to history-making campaigns. I look forward to watching him do it again to become the first Black Senator from his state in more than a century, and bring to Washington the voices of everyone in Mississippi. Image

Minutes before @OWNYourVote town hall went live, we realized we all were in yellow. We did NOT plan it, but something divine did. @Oprah was in orange but also had initially planned to wear yellow as well @MsLaToshaBrown @MsPackyetti Image

Biking, like all modes of transit (public & walking) in a *just* world, should feel like freedom, movement without fear. Another world is possible, one which centers equity, accessibility, connectivity (to jobs+education) & sustainability in transportation infrastructure.

These facts & headlines have persisted for decades.The lack of representation has nothing to do w/a lack of qualified candidates, & everything to do with a lack of will & intention. Flag raisings, lapel pins & murals are not sufficient.We've earned our seat, shared power. Period
As my granddaddy often said, "make it plain".The Boards are dominated by white men on purpose. To date, they haven't fixed it because they didn't want to. The reckoning on racial justice is not about statues, it's about statutes, laws, budgets, boardrooms, monetary policy, equity
These are old fights, but this is a new day, and we will hold people accountable.

Thank you @CityOfBoston @marty_walsh & all who labored to make sure this City tradition was honored. As a family we've so many fond memories of our participation throughout the years.
I am always amazed at the caliber of talent in our Boston churches: vocalists, musicians & choir directors alike. Special s/o to "The Worship Bandits" you were a great blessing on tonite's virtual stage. As an aside, church drummers & keyboardist are the coolest, right?

So many of our beloved elders have transitioned to ancestors in recent wks. Today was the homegoing for Mrs. Annie Kinkead, First Lady of #Mattapan. I consider myself blessed to be one of her many adopted nieces. She was a dear sister friend to my mother & will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Kinkead's joy, laughter & activism, could not be contained. She proved there is no shelf life when it comes to civic engagement. She & Mr. Kinkead, (her partner in good & life) were great role models as community builders & also in Black love & matrimony.
I find some solace knowing they've been reunited. I know my Mom & the Kinkeads are dressed to the nines, laughing, dancing, reminiscing from on high right now.
