X : You talk about mapping ethical values.
Me : Yes.
X : What about politics.
Me : Hmmm. In particular?
X : Well, take an Overton window. How do you show that?
Me : Ok, for a single collective then you can map out its values. All those values are evolving. They have done so throughout history.
X : Seen that.
Me : Ok ...
... now normally, I take the top end of the map and then I compress this ...
... down into a pipeline i.e. there are many evolving top level values (and a whole lot of hidde detail). In fact, I usually compress this all down to a square symbol ...
... as show in the culture map.
X : I've seen that.
Me : Good, well let us go back ...
... a single value will have a range of views. Some will think should be more accepted, others are arguging it's poorly understood or should be universal etc. That's your window. Now sometimes you have values in conflict with each other, one set dies off the others dominate. Ok?
X : So, the value evolves towards being accepted, the window is that view on the current position / battle.
Me : Oooh, Yep. I like that.
X : Techniques for influencing?
Me : Same as for other forms of capital .. no different.
X : Can you give examples?
Me : Yep.
X : And ...?
Me : I can is one thing, will I is another. So, no. Not interested. I should update that table with light / neutral / dark arts.
X : Anything you can point to?
Me : Well, in the UK for example, it's interesting to compare the broader range of values to be found on Twitter with the narrower range of values on Parler. It's fascinating to watch ...
X : ... you use Parler?
Me : I lurk, passively monitoring. One of my areas of research is in radicalisation. However, that's getting off the point.
X : Which is?
Me : ... certain actors gain by causing destabilisation within an opposing collective.

X : In your culture map ...
Me : This one?
X : Yep, that one. Where are things like music, fashion etc?
Me : Enablement systems.
X : What are those?
Me : Mechanisms by which we spread and control the perception of our values.
X : Explain ... Image
... enablement systems include everything from the town hall meeting to the online propaganda campaign. The music and fashion industries are routinely used throughout history to promote values or suppress values from the once popular protest song to the bland misdirection.
X : Bland misdirection?
Me : Feel good songs take your mind of things that are happening. Don't underestimate the role of music, fashion and the entire creative arts in enslaving a population.
X : They are expressions of freedom!
Me : Only when that's a value of your collective.

All MPs should able to participate virtually, it should not require a sick note from a doctor.

Chalk up cynical manipulation of perception to the long list of questionable behaviours that Gov has been exhibiting ->
Anyway, the debate in full can be read here - hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2020-1…

... and it's more about the manner in which the business of the house was conducted along with curtailing actual debate about an ammendemnt that would have widened the scope of virtual participation.
X : Why perception?
Me : Needing to get a sick note, present to the leader of the house who will decide (therefore informing Gov of your condition, a Gov that shows little integrity) is utterly ridiculous. All members of the house should be able to participate virtually ...

Bitcoin to reach $318,000

... that's just ...
... par for the course as we follow our path to wholescale destruction of our Western system.

Thanks bitcoin, thanks greed. 7 yrs in to a 30 year journey.

blog.gardeviance.org/2013/11/a-spoi…

... it would be nice if Gov would step in and go "dystopia is not what we should be aiming for".
X : Can BTC be fixed?
Me : The burn the planet in pursuit of greed (i.e. the energy consumption issue due to proof of work) is tricky. But the other negative effects can easily be fixed with radical transparency i.e. ownership of bitcoin addresses to be public.

Cue ... "you only have something to fear if you have something to hide" ... this needs a lot more discussion at the societal level. Next step ... social credit scores (see China). Are you a good productive citizen? Oh dear, poor MSFT ->
X : Do you think the West will get social credit scoring?
Me : Yes. However, not based upon collective benefit and public trust but more economic benefit i.e. are you a productive citizen (ethics of choice / transactional) rather than are you trustworthy (more ethics of care).
... it all boils down to what we value, ditto AI and the embedding of collective values in training / simulation systems. Part of the problem is that integrity is not a universal value in the West.

X : Have you seen this on "information cartography" - cacm.acm.org/magazines/2015…
Me : Looks good. Except ... well, they're not really maps they're graphs dressed up as tube maps. A bit disappointing ...
... it's the same old problem, space doesn't have meaning etc ... in a map, space has to have meaning ...
... to do that, you have to have anchor, position and movement ...

X : Is a customer journey map a map?
Me : Hmmm. Well. here is one ... customer journey maps seem to be more graphs of experience over sequenced steps. They are not bad but I'm also biased as I happen to like them ... but to convert to a map you would probably ...
... take the components, including some that seem to be missing ...
... add the customer journey onto it ...
