Methanol Economy: Central Government’s Framework and Progress. (Thread)

Aim of this transition set to reduce $20 Billion in crude imports & reduced carbon foot print.

Below is the sectoral demand of fuel in India.

Methanol Economy will result in 15% reduction in fuel bill/Annum by 2030. Additionally, Rs. 6000 Crore can be saved annually by blending of 20% DME (Di-methyl Ether – a derivative of methanol) in LPG. To the consumer, it will result in saving of minimum ₹50 to ₹100/ cylinder.

The progress made for migration to Methanol economy from 2014 to date:
1. An R&D project on developing indigenous technology for the production of methanol using high ash coal, is nearing completion and a 1 Tonne/day methanol production capacity plant will be demonstrated soon.

Institute of Eminence Status:

This was introduced in 2016 Budget by the then Finance minister Arun Jaitley. They wanted 20 universities, 10 Govt and 10 Pvt under this umbrella to help those transform as world class Teaching and research institutions.

Anna university had applied for the university of eminence status in August 2019 and not now. The DMK raking up this issue is only a diversionary tactic before election and ADMK is falling for it like to save the party from any sort of backlash.

Yes Tamilnadu is a state which has 69% reservation. But the IOE does not have any mention of abolishment of reservation. This only means status quo. If they require they can ask for a clarification instead of rejecting IOE which is a grave mistake

There is a Striking similarity between the Indian child adoption policy in the US & the way Anti Hindu establishments have functioned it India

American context Source:Vox; For decades,the US took thousands of Native American children and enrolled them in off-reservation schools

Students were systematically stripped of their languages, customs, and culture. And even though there were accounts of neglect, abuse, and death at these schools, they became a blueprint for how the US government could forcibly assimilate native people into white America

At the peak of this era, there were more than 350 government-funded, and often church-run, Native American boarding schools across the US.

The schools weren’t just a tool for cultural genocide. They were also a way to separate native children from their land.
