Completion of His Blessings (s)

I begin this chapter with the statement of Sh. Yusuf Nabahani (r) in Anwarul Muhammadiyya: "had death been Makruh, it would not have touched the Prophet (s)".

If this world was to be permanent to anyone, it would have been Rasulullah (s).

On his last day, whilst the Muslims were performing Fajr lead by Sayyidna Abubakar (r), the Prophet (s) drew curtains of Nana 'Aishah's room, looked at them and smiled cheerfully.

Understand, esteemed reader, that he was so handsome, he was dripping light, looking young (like in his 40s); the companions were so glad to see his face that they almost enraptured in their prayers. He made a gesture that they should continue their prayers & went inside.

When it was daytime, the Prophet (s) called Fatimah & told her something in a secret voice that made her cry. Then he whispered to her something else which made her laugh.

When she was asked about it, she said: "the first time he disclosed to me that he would

not recover from his illness and I wept. Then he told me that I would be the first of his family to join him, so I laughed."

He gave Fatimah glad tidings that she would become the leader of all women of the world.
She witnessed the great pain that afflicted her father.

She said: "What great pain my father is in!". To these words, the Prophet remarked: "He will not suffer any more when today is over."

He asked that al-Hasan and al-Husayn be brought to him. He kissed them and recommended that they be looked after.

He bade farewell to his wives as well and advised them to fear Allah.

When the hour drew near, 'Aishah rested him upon her chest.

Her brother, AbdurRahman came in with a piece of Arak wood (a branch used for brushing teeth) and the Prophet was looking at the wood.

'Aishah guessed that he wanted it. So she took it and softened it before giving it to the Prophet (s), who washed his teeth.

وَلَيْتِي أَكُونُ الْيَوْمَ تُرْبَةَ نَعْلِهِ
وَلَيْتِي أَرَاكٌ لِلْأَمِينِ الْمُبَشِّـرِ

There was a water container so he wiped his face thrice and said: "There is no god but Allah. Death is full of agonies."

لا إله إلا الله، إن للموت سكرات

He then raised his fingers to the skies and said: "With those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace with the Prophets and the Truthful (as-Siddiqin), the martyrs and the good doers. O Allah, forgive me and have mercy upon me and join me to the Companionship on high."

With his last breath, he added "to the most exalted companionship (3×), Inna liLlahi wa inna ilayHi raaji'un (we belong to Allah & unto Him is our return)"

Thus did the greatest man to ever set foot upon the earth passed on.

Inna liLlahi wa inna ilayHi raaji'un.

The companions standing outside his house became aware of the deed. Umar bn Khattab was in shock and couldn't believe it. Abubakar gave a sermon that calmed the Ummah and reassured them that the Prophet's death was inevitable and that only Allah is the Ever-Living.

His body was washed by Ali bn Abi Taalib and Fadl bn Abbas. Ali said "angels assisted us in the task".

He was buried in the room of 'Aishah and the grave was dug by Talhah.

Oh ALLAH! send your worthy salutations upon this noble Prophet and great leader; the opener of that which was closed, the seal of Prophethood, the helper of truth with truth, the guide to the straight path and upon his family & companions, in full measure of their worth.

May the effect of this salutation bring us closer to his remembrance and his love. Aamin.

I say this, and I seek Allah's forgiveness and guidance for you and I.
