Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. We have identified 1,608 new cases and there are now 15,692 active cases across Alberta. I’m sad to report an additional nine deaths. I want to extend my sympathies to everyone grieving a lost loved one today. (1/4)
There are currently 435 people in hospital, with 95 people in ICU. Yesterday, 23,282 tests were completed. This brings brings the total number to 2,234,470 tests. (2/4)
The next few weeks will be hard for all of us in light of the restrictions on social gatherings. I want to thank all of you for doing the right thing and making these sacrifices to help bend the curve. (3/4)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. Over the last 24 hours, we have identified 1,307 new cases & completed 15.8K+ new tests. Our prov positivity rate currently sits at about 8.4% & we have 16,628 active cases. There are 479 people in hospital incl 97 in ICU. (1/7)
There were 10 deaths reported to us in the past 24 hrs. My sympathies go to those mourning the loss of a loved one. I also want to recognize everyone w/a loved one in hospital, an outbreak setting, or impacted by COVID-19 in any other way. This virus impacts all of us. (2/7)
There are alerts/outbreaks in 393 schools – about 16% of all schools, w/1,453 active cases. This number incl 207 w/outbreaks incl 92 on the watch list. (3/7)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. Over the last 24 hours, we have identified 1,733 new cases & completed about 20,500 new tests. Our prov positivity rate currently sits at about 8.4% & we have 16,454 active cases. (1/9)
There are 453 people in hospital, of those, 96 are in the ICU. Sadly, there were 8 deaths related to COVID-19 reported to us in the past 24 hrs. My thoughts are with the family and friends of those individuals as they mourn the passing of their loved one. (2/9)
There are alerts/outbreaks in 376 schools (203 w/outbreaks incl 88 on watch) w/1,405 active cases. With grades 7-12 students at home, we can expect a reduction in cases & outbreaks attributed to schools in the coming days. They will still be reflected in active cases. (3/9)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. We have identified 1,731 new cases & there are now 14,931 active cases across Alberta. I’m sad to report an additional five deaths. My condolences to the families and friends mourning a lost loved one today. (1/5)
There are currently 415 people in hospital, with 88 people in ICU. Yesterday, 21,657 tests were completed -- bringing the total number of tests to 2,211,110 since the pandemic began. (2/5)
This is the first weekend with the new enhanced measures restricting social gatherings and businesses in effect. It’ll take 10-14 days to really start seeing the impact of these new measures. We must all do our part to reduce the spread. (3/5)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. Over the last 24 hrs, we have identified 1,227 new cases of COVID-19 in AB, and completed about 16,284 new tests. This means that our prov positivity rate currently sits at about 7.6 per cent. We now have 14,217 active cases. (1/9)
There are 405 people in hospital, w/86 in ICU. Sadly, 9 deaths were reported to us in the past 24hrs. I think often about the tragic impact that this virus has had on many Albertans. This is a hard time for all of us & we need to continue to support one another. (2/9)
There are active alerts/outbreaks in 356 schools - about 15% of all schools, w/ a total of 1,326 active cases. This incl 193 schools w/ outbreaks, w/89 on watch. Starting Mon, Grade 7-12 students will shift to at-home, returning to in-person classes Jan. 11. (3/9)

For months, I have worked w/a team dedicated to supporting AB in responding to COVID-19. I am grateful for their commitment. My role is to provide the best advice possible to elected officials on protecting the public health of AB. I take my responsibility seriously. (2/10)

Sadly, we have now reached 500 deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta. This is a tragic milestone. My sympathies go out to the loved ones and friends who are mourning these lives lost during what is a very difficult time to grieve. (2/9)
The daily rise in COVID-19 cases, as well as the growing number & extent of outbreaks in acute care facilities, continues to be concerning. We must do all we can to protect patients in our care. AHS has been & continues to take steps to increase capacity in the system. (3/9)
