20 pieces of advice from the last decade of fitness and self improvement (THREAD) 👇
Never underestimate the power of writing down what the future version of you looks like.

Save it on your desktop.

Set it as your phone background.

Print it out on a little card and keep it in your wallet.
Always have MEASURABLE goals.

Write these down too.

- What is the measurable point at which you'll have reached the goal?
- Set a realistic date by which it will be achieved.
- How much progress do you need to see each week in order to be on track for the goal?
How fat or out of shape you are is a result of your CHOICES.

You are 100% responsible.

Make better choices.
Something is better than nothing.

Just because you can't do something optimally doesn't mean you should do nothing at all.

Don't think that because you can't get to the gym, you shouldn't do a home workout, or you shouldn't work out because you only have time for 15 minutes.
You don't have to be optimal with your diet all the time.

Days aren't split up into perfect days and bad days.

There's a spectrum between perfect and abysmal, and you just need to be AVERAGING in the top 20% of it

One day isn't make or break, it just moved you on the spectrum.
Who you are surrounded by will influence your results.

People drag you down or lift you up.

Some people aren't worth having in your life.

Sometimes you need to seek out better people.
Seek out like minded people and people who have already got to where you're trying to get to.

Spend time with people who bring you up to their level and are on a similar mission.

Remove people who bring you down and hold you back.
If you've got a project, touch it every day.

Move it forward with lots of tiny steps that add up to project completion.

Sit down and do it, regardless of your level of motivation.

Don't sit around waiting for motivation. Motivation often comes out of action.
It's ok to take time out and relax.

You're allowed to watch Netflix, play video games or hang out with people.

Same goes for food choices.

Life is all about balance.
Moderation is possible when it comes to diet.

You can occasionally fit in "fun foods".

As I said before, it's not "perfect or abysmal" - you're on a spectrum.

That being said, some people need to learn complete elimination and discipline before trying moderation.
The most important step is the first one.

Just get started. Commit to something.

Worry about getting optimal later.
Don't tell everyone your goals and ambitions.

If you speak it, it had damn well better happen.

The more you speak about things that never end up happening, the less likely people are to put any effort into helping you achieve the things you talk about.
Most people you look up to weren't handed everything they have on a silver platter.

Many of them were just like you, or started with more disadvantages.

Reach out. Ask people for advice

You won't hear back from many, but you'll be surprised how willing some people are to help.
Do things when you don't feel like doing them.

Those often end up being the most productive sessions (be that training, writing, outreach etc.)
Play the numbers game.

Most people won't follow you, buy from you, help you, talk to you etc. but SOME will.

If you need to try 50 times to get 1 response, then figure out how much effort you need to put in to get the numbers you want.

You can influence this ratio.
Most people are just letting life happen to them and they'll end up unhappy with what they got.

You can totally take control of your own life.

Some things are uncontrollable, but that doesn't mean you can't carve out the opportunities you need and create the life you want.
When you really need or want something enough, you can make a surprising amount of stuff happen in a short time.

Set yourself deadlines, make yourself accountable.

Selling your product on pre-sale (with a release date) before it's finished is good for this.
Break big goals down.

Losing 100 lbs is losing 2 lbs 50 times.

Making $10,000 is making $100 100 times.
Consistency is king.

Every popular YouTube channel, twitter account, blog etc. started with 0 following, just putting content out to nobody.

It can take a year or more of this before stuff starts picking up.
Don't give up when you experience failure.

You're just another step closer to figuring it out.
Lift weights.

Seriously.

MORE fat loss tips (if you haven't been paying attention I've been doing this all week).

None of this is magic. You'll either consume fewer calories or expend more - without really having to think about it 👇
Walk more to increase the number of calories you’re burning and increase your deficit.

You don't need to do cardio. Just walk more. Set yourself a daily target and add a bit more to the target each week.

Track it.
Go to bed earlier so there’s less chance of night time temptation.

Many people do fine all day and then ruin it all in the evenings.

Brush your teeth after dinner so you won't want sugar.
