Heather Boushey - with her focus on people's financial well-being (and not the stock market) - is the type of voice we need in the halls of government.
We are also confident that Heather Boushey will internalize the necessity for our government to structure its work around the national project of averting the climate crisis.
As well, she understands that treating COVID isn't just a medical issue, but is a critical economic issue: one that needs to be addressed by treating the pandemic like a natural disaster and directly assisting struggling families.
These three crises - rampant economic inequality (particularly along race lines), the rising climate crisis, and the immediate COVID crisis - are absolutely critical for the Biden administration to address, and Heather Boushey will be a strong voice on each crisis.

We've just endorsed 19 progressive #GreenNewDeal champions!
Across the country we'll be throwing down for these down ballot candidates to ensure we can ring in the era of the green new deal!
Learn more about each candidate below!
@AOC has been fighting alongside us since the very beginning.
She has been an outspoken voice in Congress for women, working class people and progressive values. AOC is a co-author of the Green New Deal and we're ready to keep her in office.
@audrey4congress is an educator & farmer that believes DC needs a new generation of leaders who aren’t bought & paid for by special interests.
She's championed the GND in addition to getting money out of politics, healthcare, rural health & equitable access to education
Donald Trump: "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" 😬
@JoeBiden: "shoot them in the leg instead of the heart"
That's really the message you have for us, Joe? That's the best you can do? You need to be a lot fucking better, and fast (or step aside). November is coming.
We can't afford for you to lose to the most dangerous president in our nation's history.
But right now?
You're an uninspiring candidate. Listen to young people, especially to young black people. We see through the flaws of our society with the clarity of youth. We demand change.
What you're seeing right now is a deep frustration, a sense that elections cannot change our society for the better.
Unimaginative politicians like you are why young people are electoral cynics.
We don't need an arrogant, out of touch old man who thinks the kids have it wrong.
Our country is in a moment of reckoning. It is imperative that we show up for Black lives right now.
Here are some ways you can take action to demand justice and demand a society where #BlackLivesMatter as a part of Sunrise. THREAD:
1. Show up locally. One of the most important things we can do right now is to show up in support of local Black-led organizing. This may look like joining protests, providing jail support & mutual aid, or calling targeted politicians. Protests during COVID poses risks. Stay safe
2. If you are a part of a Sunrise hub, host a meeting about racial justice and the protests for Black lives. You can find an agenda for these meetings here: docs.google.com/document/d/1aL…
People advocating for racial justice often get labelled as "too radical"
Damn right we are. The word radical comes from the Latin "radix" (meaning root).
Radical change is the only way to get to the root of the problem (white supremacy), rather than just trimming at the leaves.
So is prison/policing abolition radical?
Yes. And that's what makes it such an important goal.
Here are some Minnesota-based organizations looking to get to the white supremacist roots of our policing system and pull them up.
First, there's @reclaimtheblock, a locally led Minnesota organization whose goal is to "strengthen community-led safety initiatives and reduce reliance on police departments", by pushing for greater funding of community health, not
But here's the thing. It's not just cops killing black people.
Capitalism kills black people at a rate cops could never begin to compete with.
For starters, there are grossly disproportionate black deaths to disease, whether it be COVID, heart disease, or diabetes.
The median black family owns a few cents for every dollar the median white family owns, which impacts everything from educational quality to medical care quality.
And that wealth difference means white people can afford to move away from black people and hoard public resources
White schools are better funded than black schools
White hospitals are better funded than black hospitals
Cops in white neighborhoods look like the smiling sheriff from the Andy Griffith Show, while cops in black neighborhoods act out their Punisher fantasy on our black bodies.
