NEW: We’re reporting 4,350 new positive #COVID19 cases, bringing our cumulative caseload to an unfathomable 346,206 cases.

This pandemic is not even close to being over yet. Image
The positivity rate for all PCR tests recorded on November 28th was 13.68%.

The statewide rate of transmission is 1.08.

This virus continues to spread. ImageImage
There is a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the increase in the number of cases and the increase in the number of patients in our hospitals.

That is not up for debate. It’s simple math.
➡️3,287 patients in our hospitals
➡️599 patients in our ICUs
➡️354 ventilators in use
➡️367 patients discharged yesterday
➡️507 COVID-positive residents admitted yesterday
➡️51 in-hospital deaths yesterday ImageImageImageImage

The President & his staff acted recklessly in coming to New Jersey knowing that they had been exposed to someone with a confirmed positive test.

We hope that no confirmed cases come out of the event in Bedminster.

This is a matter of humanity, but also of leadership by example.
Contact tracing efforts ARE underway following last week’s fundraising event with the President at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. We are tracing:
☑️206 attendees at the two separate events
☑️19 staff members who were involved in both events
Working with @CDCgov, we’ve contacted out-of-state attendees.

The @NJDeptofHealth, in partnership with the Somerset County Health Dept and local officials in Bedminster, is leading contact-tracing efforts within New Jersey – including the staff at the golf club.

Our overarching aim remains ensuring that our schools do not become the epicenter of new outbreaks. We have in place the protocols and guidance to ensure that, when identified, a case is removed as quickly and carefully as possible from the building environment
So far, the reopenings of our schools have progressed smoothly and in accordance with the plans that districts submitted to the @NewJerseyDOE – with minimal disruptions reported, and any identified #COVID19 cases quickly dealt with to minimize the potential for in-school spread.
