Three key reasons why the 'Art of Selling' is an important life skill.

$$$THREAD$$$
Areas explored in this thread around the 'Art of Selling'

1) It builds your self-confidence

2) Helps you develop the art of listening

3) Helps build your personal brand
The first reason: It builds self-confidence

If you already work within a selling environment you might already understand this

Walking up to somebody on the street, approaching someone in a store, or cold calling people

Takes a certain level of confidence to be successful...
Sales confidence comes from getting used to talking to strangers and in front of groups of people

You need this skill in life too

At work, around friends, and in random situations, you need this confidence...
If you don't work within selling environments

There are ways to build that confidence:

-Work at non-profit organizations on their phones
-Volunteer in community programs
-Sell stuff at flea markets or online

Selling is an important skill, and it 100% builds your confidence.
The second reason is: The art of listening

This is a bit counter-intuitive

The idea that most people have of sellers is one of a slick 'Wolf of Wall Street' wise-talking type

But the top sellers know that listing is the key to any sales conversation...
When you listen, you build the ability to hear the needs and wants of other people

You start to understand what will influence people

This isn't just a skill that you can use while selling

This is a skill that you can use in meetings: entrepreneurial or corporate...
If you want to push a project forward in a certain direction

Bulldozing your way through a meeting forcing your ideas on others doesn't work

But

Hearing the needs/wants of your bosses

Then tailoring your ideas for the project so they work for everybody is a skill...
You learn how to tailor ideas by listening

Delivering ideas without listening will not work

The ability to sell/speak to strangers builds confidence

With that confidence, you're able to create the space to listen

Helping you navigate conversations to better results.
The third reason is: You are a living brand

You're constantly selling yourself

You may not like that fact

You may disagree with me

But you can’t run away from it...
If you work within a corporate environment

Your boss and your boss's boss are weighing you up all the time

What value do you have?

What value would you have if you were to move to the next level?

Can you be put in charge of a project?
If you're known for delivering good results, that is part of your brand

But if you don’t know how to sell/listen, you may be losing out

Knowing how to sell/listen gives you the ability to demonstrate your results in meetings and interviews

Leading to better opportunities.
These three areas feed into each other

Putting yourself out there selling/talking to strangers builds confidence

You get past the initial need of wanting to talk all the time, learning the ability to listen

Then, you build your brand as someone who provides solutions...
If you don't have great selling skills

If you don't have the confidence to listen

Your brand (you) will suffer

This is why:

Building the 'Art of Selling' is super important for your personal development journey in life...
I don't think I would be where I am today without the skill of selling

It is a tool that I will keep for life

It has built my confidence and how I sell myself

It also gives me confidence when I enter into buying situations

When I go to buy a car, house, or other product...
These key skills will be a benefit in your day to day life

Like it or not you are a brand

You are constantly selling yourself

The bigger and better your brand can be

The bigger and better your life can be!
I hope you can build a big and bold life with these skills

The memoirs of a commission-based seller

8 lessons learned from working $0 salary jobs.

$$$THREAD$$$
I used to work in high-end sales selling luxury suits, clothing, and cars to the rich and famous

During my years working in these environments, I came across several techniques that transcended "sales"

These ideas apply universally
1. Questions

Ask good questions, be different with your questions

Let the customer talk; they will tell you more if you give them room to speak

Customers will often sell items to themselves; you don't even have to do any work.

A Stoic Process: Study - Practice - Teach

How to learn and apply ANY skill!

///THREAD///
If you want to be happier and improve your life quality, you should immerse yourself in subjects that you wish to learn more about

Consistently engage with the right kind of information so you can continue to grow

But you also need systems to learn new skills quickly.
Study - Practice - Teach comes into play here

When you are studying, you are learning and thinking about the subject

The same goes for when you are practicing a subject

And when you teach, you learn twice

Seneca said of "Study"...

You are the CEO and entrepreneurial founder of your life

Don't outsource the control of 'you' to other people or to chance

Install these 6 traits to take control of your life

///THREAD///
1) Strong work ethic

The fundamental baseline everyone needs, you start here

Without the ability to show up each day and take action

You will always let others dictate your days

And control your destiny.
2) Grit

Be almost irrational with your grit to get things done

Only YOU can solve the unsolvable riddle of your life

And that comes with time, effort, determination, and attempting new ideas others have not considered.

Don't change who you are

Why this is advice is a mistake

///Thread/// Image
There is almost a noble idea that you should talk and act the same way with everyone in life

No matter where they are from or what level they are in the organizations you do business

Years of people management and high-end sales have taught me this is wrong.
If you were to act the same way with everyone, you may find

1)Those below you might find you condescending
2)Those above you might be offended by you

If you choose to be super friendly all the time it will not fit all situations

The same for if you decide to be super official

Let's talk about making better decisions using stoicism

What does the even mean?

///THREAD///
In many people's day-to-day lives during turbulent times

They go looking for answers to their questions and for some comfort

Many people will use religion or other spiritual books

I use philosophy and in particular, Stoicism, to help me make better decisions in life
Stoicism is an emotion-processing tool and way of thinking

It can help you make better decisions

Regulate your emotions, plan for the future

And deal with the ups and downs of life

Here are three quotes that support my points...
