“The Daniel Pearl murder was a strain of international terrorism,” Farooq Naek, Sindh govt special prosecutor, told judges. He laid out how Omar Sheikh used a fake identify to trap Danny. Danny was chasing a story that a cleric, 👇🏽Sheikh Gilani, directed shoe bomber Richard Reid. 
Omar Sheikh was sitting in the office of a jihadi org in Islamabad when the phone rang. “Arif” answered. A journalist Danny had hired asked if anyone knew how to find Sheikh Gilani. Omar heard. He faked being a student of Gilani. He set up to meet Danny at the Akbar Intl Hotel👇🏽
At the hotel, Omar Sheikh said he’d set up an interview with Gilani for Danny. Farooq Naeek told the judges Omar Sheikh orchestrated the entire kidnapping. And he did. Here is one email he sent Danny with this email address: nobadmashi@yahoo.com Badmashi means bad guy in Hindi
In Karachi on Jan 23, 2002, Danny left for an interview from which he never returned. His wife Mariane & I waved goodbye to him. Parrots squawked overhead. Danny fell into the clutches of Omar Sheikh, who sent the world photos of Danny in shackles. Days later Danny was murdered.
With that, the case was adjourned, to continue tomorrow. I wish we didn’t have to relive these details from a crime so dark even today, 18 years later I cannot believe it happened, but we must know the facts so another crime cannot happen of freeing Omar Sheikh. He is GUILTY.⚖️
