Final Inferences:

โšก๏ธ Japan, China & Canada have the least Taxes on Fuel
โšก๏ธ China, Canada & Britain import the least oil on their overall consumption
โšก๏ธ France, Spain & Britain consume the least oil per day
โšก๏ธ France, Spain & Britain have the least registered motor vehicles
โšก๏ธ Germany, Canada & India have the lowest income tax rates.
โšก๏ธ Spain, Britain & India have the least working population on overall population
โšก๏ธ Britain, China & India has the least income tax paying population

Despite these
โšก๏ธ Japan, Canada & India have the least fuel price
โšก๏ธ When India improves on Bringing more people in income tax bracket, Direct taxes improve and the need for indirect taxes will gradually reduce.

โšก๏ธIndia is already working on transition to Methanol economy since 2016
โšก๏ธ Despite high Duties, less proportion of direct tax and importing more than 80% and consuming high, India has done reasonably well in containing the fuel price.
Read Britain as 50% and not 5%. Typo error
โšก๏ธ Spain*, China & India has the least income tax paying population

USD to INR Exchange Rates: During different time lines

1980 - 85: Increased by 4.52
1985 - 90: Increased by 4.63
1990 - 95: Increased by 15.42 (High inflow of investment but exchange skyrocketed) - The Economist as FM

By March 1997, India held just $29.3 billion in reserves. Image
Then comes Vajpayee between 1999 and 2004. Exchange rates saw no change. But did not last long, the beginning of the new rise started in 2006.

As of March 2004, reserves stood at $107.4 billion. Increase of $78 Billion in 7 years Image
2005 - 13: Increased by 15.97 in 9 years.

Foreign reserves was about $250 Billion in the year end of 2013-14. Increased by $143 Billion in 10 years.

The actual issue was elsewhere. Declining trend of Reserves/GDP ratio from the beginning of 2007 ImageImage

Total Sqm area of the new secretariat building including both blocks is 1,55,000 Sqm - But this plinth area is not seated area.

Almost 40 to 50% of the plinth area in Block A is double height atrium which has only two floor. Plinth area is not necessarily habitable area. Image
Secondly, the cost mentioned is estimated cost and not the final cost of the project. The final escalated cost of the project is more than 1474 Crores cited BBC.

India today called it a 1200 Cr project and Wiki sources say it is 1100 Crores. So the cost mentioned is wrong. Image
Secretariat costed โ‚น95,000/Sqm in 2010/11.

Parliament building is constructed at a cost of โ‚น1,41,230 in 2020

At 6% inflation, the secretariat building construction will be โ‚น1,70,131/Sqm today

The same secretariat would have costed 2637 Crores Today.

No mention of Middlemen in any of these interviews. Not even once.

All his interviews focused only on increasing MSP
He spoke of everything except middlemen in this interview in 2018. Demonetisation affected but no mention of middlemen anywhere google.co.in/amp/s/amp.scroโ€ฆ

Large Farmers to Middle men to Large Farmers - The vicious cycle

Punjab is an agriculturally developed but land scarce economy. The ownership of land is an economic asset and carries a social prestige in the society. The small farmers find it difficult to keep their land intact.
The number of operational holdings in the state was 11.17 lakh in 1990-91, which declined to 9.97 lakh in 2000-01. The picture of small farmers (< 5 acres of land) was very precarious as their number has declined from 5 lakh to about 3 lakh during this period.
This shows that about 2 lakh small farmers have either leased out or sold their entire land or part of it. A report on the status of farmers who left farming in Punjab states that out of 2 lakh families who left farming, about 36 per cent families have sold their entire land

The Arhtiyas (Middlemen) of Punjab

The Arhtiyas of Punjab are political connected.

In July 2017, in a public function the Arhyiyas felicitated Amarinder Singh with the title of โ€˜Fakhr-e-Quamโ€™(Pride of the Community).
Post that function, the CM had said it would be difficult to waive off the debt owed by farmers to the arhtiyas.

As many as 86% of farmer & 80% of agricultural labours are mired in debt, says a study on Indebtedness among Farmers & Agricultural Labourers in Rural Punjab.
Its authors, researchers at Punjabi University, Patiala, say over a fifth of that debt was owed to commission agents and moneylenders.

No less than 8,294 farmers took their own lives between 2000 & 2015, says a study presented last year before the Vidhan Sabhaโ€™s Committee.
